Private Tours Venice

Hi all,

Do you Venice veterans have any thoughts on private tours in Venice? Are the orientation tours worth the expense or is Venice a DIY kind of place? Also, how worthwhile is the Doge's Secret Itinerary tour? Again, a must do or not so much?

Based on our four visits to Venice (3 cruise, 1 land tour), it is definately a DIY kind of place. Having said that, we do tend to prefer independent travel if we can. Planning and preparation are key to getting the most out of your visit. Transportation within Venice is very efficient and easy to negotiate.
