HEADS UP!!! Possible danger in Bali/Indonesia

There is a possibility of riots, demonstrations and terrorist attacks in Bali/Indonesia for the next few weeks.

 

The Miss World contest was scheduled in Jakarta. They have had to move it to Bali due to the large amount of protests from Islamic Defenders Front. That group has now threatened protests, demonstrations and violence in Bali if the contest continues as planned.

 

In addition, the Asia Pacific Economic Conference will be held a week later. Our President as well as other world leaders are going to be there. There are some real security concerns coming out of Indonesia about both the Miss World contest and the Conference. This info was in the London Financial Times and on BBC.

 

It states that the US, UK and Australia have all issued warning to their citizens going to Bali/Indonesia. I did not check the US State Dept website for any warnings.

 

But just a heads up-for anyone on a cruise in the next few weeks, please be careful and pay attention to what is going on. Also, be aware that your cruise itinerary MAY be changed.

The Miss World contest is over. Evidently, from BBC, they closed the port to Bali so none of the protesters could get there and cause problems. They had over 500 police on sight guarding a beauty contest. Totally amazing.

What a bunch of hypocrites. They had their own beauty contest even though one of the themes of the protests were women parading around on stage (just the parading part was a big objection-forget the bikinis-that was another objection). And they give the winner a trip to Mecca and INDIA??? Isn't that a Hindu country??? Why not send the winner throughout the Middle East instead of to India? Why not to Dubai?

Now Indonesia just has to provide security for all the world's leaders who show up in Indonesia next week. Be careful if you are in the area.
