What is Surrender the Booty???

Surrender the booty is a game played between cruisers on subsequent voyages on a cruise ship. The cruisers on the first voyage (the surrenderers of the "booty") take a trinket, something cute, non-food, non-perishable, etc. and hide it somewhere on the ship. They take care not to violate any of the ship's rules, don't put it inside safety boxes, etc. Somewhere that's not obvious, so that non-players won't run across it by accident, but that with a few clues, someone could find it.

They then work out a way to give a set of clues (usually 3-4, in increasing specificity) to the "searcher", coming on board the vessel on a later cruise. Could be via text message, could be by phone call if the next person is on the very next sailing. It could be by letter or email if the next person is sailing on a more distant sailing. That person, when they get on board, opens the first clue and starts the "booty hunt". If they can't find it with the first clue, they open the second, then the third, etc. until the "booty" is found! They then reply to the original people who hid the "booty"

Sort of like geocaching on a cruise ship!
