mufc99 Posted October 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2013 We'll I am sat here drinking some of the cheap local wine in Waikiki. Actually, I think it is just reject stuff from Australia. :-) The plan was to take some of the cheap local stuff onboard and just pay the $15 per bottle charge. Now having second thoughts! Has anybody got an opinion on the quality of the wine that they sell on the ship for $30 per bottle? If it's better than the local $10 bottles we will go for that :-)
CruiserBruce Posted October 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Ah, what ship? It would be better to ask on the board for the cruise line involved, as this would be relevant only to the wines carried on a given cruise line or ship, and not to Hawaii. CruiserBruce Posted October 5, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Pride of America. So best to research this on the NCL board. As wine onboard NCL ships is a fleetwide policy, worldwide, and really has nothing to do with Hawaii.
mufc99 Posted October 5, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Ha ha thought it would have everything to do with Hawaii if somebody had boarded this ship in Hawaii and ordered the wine! :-) Oh well I'll sample it myself & let others know! :-)
puddles99 Posted October 6, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2013 Here are the lists you're looking for . . . Pride of America specific wine list: http://www.ncl.com/sites/default/files/WineList_POA_03052012.pdf Norwegian fleetwide wine list: http://www.ncl.com/sites/default/files/WineList_Fleetwide_071513.pdf When we sailed, all of the wines on both lists appeared to be available on board POA - just some of the prices are different on POA for certain wines (I have no idea why). Hope that helps!
ride4806 Posted October 7, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 7, 2013 There are a few people here who always are so willing to share information without pointing you in another direction and Puddles you are one of them. Those links are helpful-I really do want to say thanks to you folks who actually take the time to help us out -it is much appreciated!
aussiemandy Posted October 8, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I've just retuned from the POA and purchased the Danzante Pinot Grigio and Berginer White Zinfandel and was very happy with them both. Others in my group had different wines and I didn't hear any complaints from them. All lower priced wines.
mufc99 Posted October 12, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted October 12, 2013 Just got off the POA cruise and we settled for the onboard wine. I would say the $30 bottles are similar to $20 bottles onshore. Once you have purchased the wine package future purchases get the 20% discount as add ons to the original package. My reds were 2010 & the wife's whites were 2012. aussiemandy Posted October 15, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 15, 2013 The only 'wine package' offered to us on Sept 28 sailing was 20% of 6 or more bottles. Of course there were taxes added, as with all purchases American.
