Hotels we have used in the past that we under $100 arfre now over £200. Anyone know what is happening? Yes, as years go by, prices go up, especially in the tourist driven industries. I've seen the same thing as you've experienced.
nedward Posted October 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2013 We are looking at the Coral Princess January 19 but are shocked at hotel prices for the 18th. Hotels we have used in the past that we under $100 arfre now over £200. Anyone know what is happening? It's a federal holiday weekend, as it's Martin Luther King's birthday on the 20th. This may be affecting hotel rates... Good luck, Ned
Seafoam Green Posted October 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Do you have any credit cards with loyalty programs? That can be very helpful for booking hotel accommodations.
CruisinChris Posted October 8, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Hotels in Ft Lauderdale have become quite expensive. One that has come down in price in the Hyatt Pier 66. request a room in the tower, and request overlooking the harbor. This hotel was renovated some years ago (rooms and public spaces) but the halls and rooms are frankly tired. The best things about this hotel are the fantastic location across from port, great huge pool area and pool bar, and if you walk down to the intercoastal, the Pelican's Perch bar and restaurant overlooks the intercoastal and there's a water taxi stop there (you can take it across to the 15th St Fisheries if you're so inclined). The rates are quite reasonable here, comparatively speaking. Otherwise, you might check the hotels close to the airport or further away -North Lauderdale or Dania Beach (south of airport and port). There are economy hotels in these locations that may better suit your budget.
akeasley Posted October 8, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Hotels in the FLL area are usually expensive...especially ones that offer shuttle service to the cruise port. You may pay less for a hotel a little farther away but then you're taxi cost will be more.
Putterdude Posted October 8, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Prime season in FLL, snowbirds, cruisers and you have a pretty full hotel. I am waiting another few months and will be using Hotwire and Priceline but it is real hard to keep it much under $150 for 3* plus hotels.
coloradocruisers101 Posted October 8, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I just booked the Courtyards at Marriott Airport and Cruise Hotel. I used points, but I thought the rooms were about $100.00. They have free shuttles from airport to hotel and from hotel to cruise terminal. It had good reviews from Tripadvisor. Good Luck! coloradocruisers101 Posted October 8, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Just checked their website for you and it looks like they are $299.00. That is crazy...
Laine Posted October 8, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 8, 2013 We are using Hampton Inn in April to go on Emerald TA with shuttles for airport and cruise port. It is almost double in Jan what it will be for us in April. Must be coinciding with the holiday! Loyalty points look like best bet if can be used at that time. Good luck. Jim Avery Posted October 8, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 8, 2013 I would second the Hyatt Pier 66. We have stayed there a number of times and been well satisfied. The location is hard to beat and the water taxi ride is worth doing to see all the very expensive homes and yachts. As mentioned, in a tower room facing the harbor, you will be able to see your ship come in.:D Yes, it is expensive. It is the peak of high season and a holiday weekend to boot. The town will be full. Better get a room while you can or you might be staying in Tallahassee!:D

Liz54 Posted October 8, 2013 #13 Share Posted October 8, 2013 Those Holiday weekends are killers. We find Priceline & Hotwire very good, but while they are normally $100 tops for luxury, you will need to go to $150 or so, in my experience. Good Luck
