lillotis Posted October 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Do we have a refrigerator in room? Can we buy milk from somewhere on ship to keep in room? Also, how about fruit, cereal and snacks for kids. Can we take these from buffet to keep in room for kids? Or is it best to bring this on ship with you or buy from somewhere. Also, it looks like water, milk and juice are not free. Suggestions?
gerif Posted October 9, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2013 What cruiseline? What ship? Helps to know. In general, you can take anything you want from the buffet back to your cabin (only prepackaged items like cereal boxes may be taken off the ship however). Milk is free at all times as is tap water which is perfectly fine to drink. Juice is usually free only at breakfast but you can bring some empty sports bottles and fill them up for later (fill from glasses not the spout for sanitary reasons). Most rooms have a cooler type fridge. I wouldn't trust it with milk but you can keep some little cartons on ice. You can also order milk from room service. gerif Posted October 9, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Duh, sorry, just realized it was Oasis. Same advice applies.
boulders Posted October 9, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Water, milk, juice, lemonade, chocolate milk are all free - except juice is only free at breakfast. The cooler is fine for milk. You can take fruit, cereal and other food back to your room for consumption later. You can also order from room service for free (extra charge between midnight and 5 am). Junk food is available for purchase at the shops.

I just got off oasis about 2 months ago, their refrigerators are very small and half of the refrigerator is filled with items that you have to purchase in order to consume. In the morning you can grab as many milk containers free as you want. Orange juice is also free but you can only get it in a plastic cup, same with water. I would grab as much as you can and put it in the refrig but you will find that you will not be able to fit much in it.
powelweb Posted October 9, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Ask your cabin attendant to remove the purchase items from the fridge on your first day if you have no intention of buying them so you can use the fridge to store items for the children, and also ask for ice, too. Kerry's Girls Posted October 9, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2013 I just bring a stack of $1 bills and order cold milk from room service whenever needed. Or you can keep cartons from the buffet in the ice bucket in your room. Best, Mia
flhokie Posted October 9, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 9, 2013 You can take anything from food locations back to your cabin. On Allure we took the sodas out of the mini fridge & put them on a high shelf til the last day (in plain sight of attendant & we told her). Each morning we'd grab enough milk cartons for the day & put them in the fridge. That worked well.
Mack2 Posted October 10, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 10, 2013 We were on the Oasis in 2011. My boys love milk... For some reason, they still like having a glass before bed. Which is great! Milk does a body good! Anyway... Windjammer (if it was still open) and the Cafe Promenade had cartons of milk at the time (things can change in 2 years). It was just a matter of leaving the room to grab or ask for a carton. No charge. There was a little fridge... we stuffed it with extra milk from the morning Windjammer breakfast in the beginning of the week, but then realized it really wasn't that necessary by the 2nd or 3rd day. retire2cruise55 Posted October 14, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 14, 2013 Yes, you will have a fridge in your cabin. However, it wasn't cold, rather cool. Order milk from room service or get it from the Windjammer. Denise
