avalon007 Posted October 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2013 Hi, I just received an email from Royal advising of their new smoking policy. Basically, no smoking on stateroom balconies from 1st Jan 2014 departures is the main change.:) We just got off Radiance a few days back & had heard rumours this was coming. PDF I received attached. 2014 Smoking policy.pdf

Yes, it must be part of a mass mail-out as I received it too today! The subject has been responsible for a long thread on the Royal Caribbean forums so time ago now. Suits me, especially as I have 3 balcony bookings for 2014.:) Gae
Dalewhale Posted October 16, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2013 It is a backward step though allowing smoking in the casino on cruises sailing out of Australia :(
Aussie FF Posted October 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2013 Smoking has NOT been allowed in the casinos, when the ships come to Australia, as they must comply with Australian laws. So I don't see that changing.;)
avalon007 Posted October 16, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted October 16, 2013 It is a backward step though allowing smoking in the casino on cruises sailing out of Australia :( Hi Dale, Don't worry, there will still be no smoking in the casino on Australian departures, the policy is the American version & in the last paragraph it mentions it can be adapted to local country regulations & that is what RCCL will continue to do in Australia. Basically for us Australians it just means no balcony smokers in addition to the already stricter smoking rules RCCL applies to it's ships whilst based in Australia.:)
Debsta Posted October 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2013 This was posted on Royal Caribbean Australia & NZ Facebook page a few hours ago: Royal Caribbean Australia & NZ Hi, thank you for your feedback on the recent smoking policy revision. While we understand your concern, this change was made in consideration of ongoing guest feedback, with the intention to find a reasonable balance between the needs of smoking and non-smoking guests. We do hope that the balcony smoking restriction improves your experience while onboard at least. Thank you Now I don't know if this FB page is moderated by RCL OZ or USA but this is the latest response.

Gold Coast Cruisers Posted October 17, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 17, 2013 Good news, except for smoking in the Casinos. I think they can smoke in the Casinos out of Asia. Especially in the 'High Roller' areas they have created on both Voyager and Mariner. Jill:)
