Lunch at a VERY local place

A fun spot with lots of history is "Charlies Bar". There is a Aruba based novel "An Island Away" by Daniel Putkowski in which the main area of the story is centered around Charlie's Bar.

I have been there while staying on the Island. Was a great lunch spot with lots of mementos hanging on the wall. It is not "close" to the port, but would be an easy cab ride - not sure what the fare would be.

They do serve local food, that we really enjoyed. There is a website telling more information.

Peanuts is right in downtown Oranjestad. A new place I just heard about is Baby Back Grill. Don Jacinto for Columbian.

If you have a car there is Zeerover in Savaneta.

Otherwise there are tons of takeaways all over the island.

It's one of many places to eat in the busy downtown area, but it is an open design on the second floor - great views of the cityscape and you can even see your ship from there - or at least a part of it. Food was great and only a short walk back to the pier.

We like to go to Iguana Joe's because it's very convenient. Sitting at a table by the rail overlooking what's happening below and chatting with others is fun for us. :D

Not sure if it open for lunch but Driftwood is good and you can eat whatever is the days fresh catch.

Iguana Joes is also good, in the middle of the tourist shopping area. The Coconut Mahi Mahi is awesome.

Also the restaurant at the end of the island down by the lighthouse is very good and has great views of the island. But is probably a 20 min ride from the cruise port.
