2.0 Upgrades

One of the MAIN things I cruise for is the entertainment, and shows. I've noticed in this thread, that about 99% of those who say they really like the 2.0 upgrades, NEVER mention the shows. Of those who dislike the 2.0 upgrades, they almost ALWAYS mention the "Playlist Production" shows. Yes, I too like the upgrades to the bars, and food areas on Lido, but really don't care for the 2.0 shows. In fact, I found that "Paradise" still has the pre 2.0 shows, and I've sailed her three times so far this year, with two more cruises aboard "Paradise" booked before the end of the year, just so I can enjoy the BIG shows a few more times before they're GONE! Bottom line, is that 2.0 is O.K., but BRING BACK THE BIG SHOWS AND MUSICIANS!

Sorry but you won't be getting them back

- unless we start paying the fuel surcharge again

or are willing to pay more than just Carnival Prices, as they currently are.

These things cost MONEY.

Musicians and dancers don't work cheap

-and they have to be fed and housed too, most unfortunately..

They're probably the least cost-effective workers on board,

from the bean-counters point of view.

I too keep hoping for Cunard or Seabourn levels of service at Carnival prices

but dammit Luck just isn't on my side!

No Frills Cruising is No Frills Cruising -and Carnival is No Frills Cruising.

Life isn't fair, is it.

I guess we should thank them for working free all those years.

You are absolutely right, I did not mention shows in my post.

I went to shows pre-2.0 and post-2.0 and was not thrilled by any of them. The singers could sing just as well before as after, and I was not impressed with the singing in either scenario.

I prefer the audience participation shows, if we go to any at all.

We enjoy different things on our cruise than other folks do, so saying that the 2.0 changes sucked is highly subjective. For my wife and I the improvements were a decent upgrade, but they did remove a couple of the features that I liked before. The new things are definitely a hit with the average cruiser as evidenced by the line of people always going to Guy's or the cantina, and the bars on the lido deck were packed every time we walked through there.
