Looking for private tours for 3 which are more economical than the ship tours.

The HOHO tours seem quite expensive, much more than in Europe.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.;)

We don't have any tour guide recommendations since our tours were arranged by Regent. In any event, don't miss the new grand mosque (it's the name of the ruling sheek) which was amazing in Abu Dabai. Muscat was just ok.

In Muscat, we just used a taxi and it worked out very well. We negotiated a price and visited the major sites.

 

Whatever you go in both Abu Dhabi and in Muscat visit the Grand Mosques. Both are very impressive and the one in Abu Dhabi was incredible.

When travelled to Dubai in 2011 we used Shehnaaz. We were a group of around 12 and she planned a full intinery for the day which included time to see the dancing waters, burg khalifa, a cruise, gold and spice souk etc

I have been in communication with Best Shore Tours who offer similar, if not identical tours and prices.

 

In Abu Dhabi I'm thinking of doing both the mosque and Falcon hospital which is expensive ($50 pp for falcon hospital) by taxi as I've read on TA forums that taxis are cheap and plentiful there.

 

If anyone can comment on the falcon hospital and whether it is worth the hefty fee, I'd be grateful.

We enjoyed our visit to the Falcon Hospital. Falcons are an important part of Emirati culture and highly valued both literally and figuratively. Your visit will include about a 20 minute intro of the different types of falcons in the reception area, while enjoying some juice or tea. You will then enter the hospital and see actual grooming of falcons currently at the hospital. You will also have the opportunity of holding one on your arm...makes a great photo op. The hospital also supports a first class Pet Care Center, Animal Shelter, and laboratory. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to answer your questions. Combined with a visit to the beautiful Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque your day in Abu Dhabi will be filled.

For those who have previously visited Abu Dhabi or Dubai, consider visiting the oasis city of Al Ain in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. If you are staying overnight, a trip out to the dunes in Liwa may also be rewarding. It is also in the emirate of Abu Dhabi but about a two hour drive from the city center.
