loobs40 Posted October 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2013 Hi, we are on Azura on Jan 24th visiting various islands. We will be using credit cards for major purchases, but should we use US dollars on all the islands for smaller things like taxi fares, drinks, tours, renting sunbeds, snacks etc? What have others done ?
Spikey M Posted October 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2013 It depends where you're going in the Caribbean. The islands of the east use the 'East Caribbean Dollar' for example. Similarly; if you're visiting Cuba you will be charged extra for using US Dollars. We need to know which islands in particular you are visiting to answer properly. HomelessBear Posted October 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2013 Hi, We've cruised in the Caribbean a few times now and have always used US dollars. Never had any problem. Enjoy your cruise.
newport dave Posted October 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2013 Take low denomination US$ bills, as you'll get change back in the local currency.
ParCan Posted October 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2013 As others have said. Take US $ Please note that ALL Prices will be in Local $, You will need to ask for the price in $US. That Includes Taxi Drivers !. Everywhere we went $US were accepted and we had no issues with Change.
