My family and I just came off a Disney cruise. We used a cash basis. . They willl put a 200 dollal limit on each person. I was able to buy in the gift shops ect, Castaway cay . After our events at Castaway cay. I went to the Gust Services on the ship and paid my balance with cash and Travlers checks

Cash is not accepted as a form of payment in shops, bars, restaurants, spa, etc on any cruise line. You can pay some cash to the front desk to put on your account, but all purchases are charged to your account using your room key. It's a "cashless" society on cruise ships.

You can also put money on your stateroom account before you leave. Sofar we have $500 put to our stateroom account for our October sailing. It is nice to show up and already have a credit. If you want to run cash, though, just keep your account under the $200 limit and pay it off often at guest services and you should be fine.
