boowaaccaa Posted November 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) Hi All, We are arriving via Tampa Airport and doing a cruise out of the port. AFTER we are renting a car, going to Fort Myers area for about two weeks then either flying out of Fort Myers or Tampa. What would the best option be - 1. cab to the airport after the cruise and get a rental car and return it there 2. rent a car near the port take it to Fort Myers for two weeks then return it to the port and cab back to the airport for the flight home 3.rent at the port, drive to Fort Myers, return it to Fort Myers airport and fly home from there ? Other options? Interested in the most economical...! Also we will have a baby with us and have his car seat to contend with. JohninDC Posted November 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2013 There is a Hertz location about 2 blocks from the Tampa port (inside the Mariott) -- for ease of travelling with a baby I would try to rent from there although the rates may be higher if you drop the car at another location. Enterprise is about 3 miles from the port but they will come pick you up; you'll need to return the car there and then cab to TPA (about $25+tip). There may be other companies that will shuttle you to TPA to rent a car, other wise it is a flat rate cab fare of $25 (I would tip a few extra bucks to make up for the time spent installing and uninstalling your car seat ;)). Many locations in FLA do not charge a drop fee for one-way rentals, but you also often do not qualify for the lowest rates. :( You will need to price this out with your dates on a comparison travel web site such as www dot carrentals dot com. Good luck! :)
