Ketchikan Choices

The Orca kayak trip is full for the day we are in Ketchikan (8/2) and I think we won't do the Misty Fjords floatplane to save $$$ for Denali flightseeing and glacer copter in Juneau. So.....it seems that lots of people find the wilderness cruise to MF (oops, perhaps not a good abbreviation:p) too time consuming. Should we skip Misty Fjords all together? There is space available on the shorter SE Kayaks trip. Other outdoor suggestions?

What are your interests??? This isn't the place to skimp on tours, and Misty Fjords float plane tours are just a highlight. :O) I've been on the short kayak trips and had a great time. Do you have a toursaver book?? coupons for both the kayak and McKinley flightseeing if you can get a used book? Could be enough savings for everything you want?

Well, I've gotten a toursaver book and am using that for the Pennock Paddle and the McKinley summit (not the circle) tour. Also have booked with Alaska Seaplane for the Misty Fjords. Thanks for the encouragement.

We just came from Alaska and Misty Fjords is absolutely spectacular. There is a boat only option if you are independent. There were folks from the ship and independents on the same boat, so missing the ship would be hard to do if it fits your schedule. RT would be about 5 hours.

What is the name of company that has the boat that makes the R/T to Misty Fjords? We don't want to fly, so the boat trip sounds great, but how do you book it independently? Thanks for your help.

Go to the Ketchikan city website. They have different vendors listed on there and you can book directly with them.

Misty Fjords is one of those "must see" excursions. If you skip it you'll be kicking yourself at the dinner that night when you hear all the raves from those who went.
