How long from Bayport to Gulf on cruise ?

How long does it take to get from the Bayport terminal to the gulf on a cruise ? Is it a nice ride, meaning scenery etc ?

 

I ask because I saw it can take 11 hours down the Miss. from NO to the gulf and thought would be pretty cool to do, but my cruise leaves from Bayport.

From the first cruise ending today:

In the patter today, it said that once the ship enters the channel on our return, it is 37 miles to Bayport Cruise Terminal and it will take 2.5 hours. I know that when we sailed away it seemed to be a long time before the port pilot left the ship.

I look forward to seeing the bay from this angle! It's not 11 hours though.

 

As I live here, I am also interested in taking the free "Sam Houston" channel tour one of these days. They are shut down during November, re-opening December.

possibly 1- 2 hours... not a whole lot of scenery,,, travelling through the Houston ship channel
