We booked airfare independent of cruise line and will be on the Disney Fantasy next Saturday. Can we get tickets for the Disney bus transfer when we land at the airport, or do we need to arrange for alternate transportation? We've done that plenty of other times when on Carnival ships out of Port Canaveral, but first time with Disney. Thanks!

Yes. You'll need to pick up your bags and carry them to the DCL transportation desk (it's the same one as Magical Express uses) if you don't purchase until you get there.

You can book DCL transportation even if you haven't booked your airfare through them. Just call DCL to purchase it. That way you should receive luggage tags to place on your bags. Then the DCL transfer people will get your bags directly from the airport and you won't see them until they show up at your room onboard.

If you are cruising next Saturday, DCL won't have time to get the luggage tags to you before the cruise date. BUT, no worries.

Purchase your transfers in advance by calling DCL (or your agent if you used one). You CAN purchase at the airport, but that's just one more thing to worry about. If you have purchased in advance but have no tags, you just go to the Disney Welcome Center (lower level, terminal B) when you arrive. Tell the agent that you don't have tags on your luggage but did purchase transfers. He/she will take the numbers from your airline claim checks and put them in the system--your bags will show up outside your cabin.

Alternatively, you can go to baggage claim and get your bags and then proceed to the Welcome Center to get on the bus. That's just a time delay and rather a pain.

The advantage to booking transfers in advance is that DCL can plan better what time passengers will be arriving and have the bus schedule more fine tuned. And you get the luggage handling benefits.

ALSO, if you are on a participating airline and plan to take the DCL bus back to the airport, see if your flight times qualify you for on board airline check in. You will need to request this service before boarding the ship. There is no charge beyond the cost of the transfers. If you do it, you place your luggage outside the cabin on the last night and don't see it again till you arrive at your final (home) airport! A lovely perk.
