Liberty Embarkation at Ft Lauderdale - AWFUL!

Just returned from the LOS on a 5-day cruise on 11-23 and all I can say is I have never waited so long to board a cruise! The line was extremely long, not enough check-in people, just utterly miserable.

In all my years of cruising I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes to board. Just wanted to warn all those coming through Fort Lauderdale. Ignore the email about not arriving early. I would!

Unfortunately, I hate to report that this was just one of the awful things about my cruise. A review will be posted soon.

On the bright side, disembarkation was quick and awesome! Park-N-Go had MANY shuttles and I was at my vehicle within 15 minutes after being picked up at the port.

Disappointed-n-RCL

B. :(

I agree, I was shocked at the boarding process. The disembarkation was easy, though, so I was pleasantly surprised!

We are sailing Liberty on on dec 30th. Are we able to leave the ship when we want at the end of the cruise if carrying only 1 carry on or does it have to be the early time they offer? Our flight leaves at 7pm and won't get into home until 1 am so I much prefer to sleep until 8 and get as late as possible

We arrived at noon and it was complete chaos for awhile, because of the layout where terminal 25 is located. The terminal is at the end of the peer and all the traffic HAS to circle back around. Security and police officers were directing people to go to different places and were confusing everyone. When we stopped and unloaded our bags, we couldn't find a porter. Once we got our bags checked and parked the car it got better. If I had it to do again I would go a little bit earlier.

Disembarking at our scheduled luggage tag time was a piece of cake.....

We usually turn into the parking garage before the Terminal Building and walk back with our wheeled luggage thus avoiding the circle.

Received an email from RCL this week telling us not to get there early as the process of clearing the ship is slower than normal due to Gov't cutbacks.

We board the Liberty (our favourite ship) on Monday. Will post when we get back.

Kathy:)

If you want to sleep until 8, better make sure to have your do not disturb in and "deadbolt" the door. We didn't do either (had a kid who came in late), and the staff member walked right in at 7 a.m. (after knocking lightly) to check our mini bar. We were in BED and she turned the cabin lights on. I was so shocked. Our cabin steward, Lloyd, knew we were sleeping until 8, because I confirmed with him we could leave our cabin at 9. I'm making a complaint about that, it was totally unreasonable.

I think you can stay on the ship until 11 and then they kick you off. It was freezing in Lauderdale, so we didn't want to stay in the common areas. We were hoping to sit on the pool deck.

Was on Liberty last week. Carlos escorts all the GS people to another place and we got off right away. We had time to eat breakfast and left the ship about 8:00 a.m. The line through customs was long but went pretty fast.

Would love to hear all the OP's complaints. We'll be sailing on the Liberty in a few weeks. We usually arrive at the port at noon and have had no problems on any of our sailings. I wonder since we'll be in a GS we could avoid any delays?
