Where to buy wine at IAH

We are flying into IAH from London and staying at the Marriott on site before transfer to Bayport the next day. We would like to take our allowed 2 bottles of wine on board, and would like to know if there is anywhere to buy some at the airport, hotel or the port. Many thanks.

There is a wine bar called "Le Grand Comptoir" listed in one of the terminals at IAH. Their menu offers wine by the bottle - however, the question is, would liquor laws allow you to take away an unopened bottle? I'm guessing probably not...but you could contact them and ask. Here's the link:

Here are a couple of other threads from these forums asking much the same thing:

Another thought: Perhaps you could find a nearby wine & liquor store that would deliver to the hotel?

Hope that all helps some..good luck!

Can you not buy some at Heathrow duty free when leaving? Unless you have a car there is not much around IAH. You could always grab a taxi from airport to a liqueur or grocery store and back but the cost would prob outweigh the cost of just buying it on board.

Sent using a small piece of fruit.

Thanks. We did think of that, but were hoping to take some Champagne for New Years Eve. Not sure if it will be allowed in hand luggage, or how it would behave. Don't want it exploding!

Check with your airline about Champagne in your carry-on. If they allow it, your carry-on would be best, as you can treat it fairly gently.

There is a liquor store about a half mile from the Marriott on JFK blvd

Supposedly they have a shuttle

Airport shuttle service, on request, complimentary

maybe tip the driver and have them take you there

Concerning carry on wines we did this in Heathrow on our way to BCN for a cruise. We were on British airways and not a problem.

I don't think you have a tax to pay as you are allowed a bottle each duty free
