Michuck Posted July 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2005 I posted the following on the Port Call threads and didn't get a response....I know you guys'll help me out!! Thanks in advance... Can anyone tell me the cost of the wristbands to be able to use the facilities (specifically the pools) at Atlantis? My DH and I are going on a cruise with my boss, his wife and son (are we nuts or what???), it's their first, and they want to go to Atlantis. I'm trying to provide him with all details of costs to expect, etc. Michele
Tra4 Posted July 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2005 The only way to get the wristbands is to be a guest at their resort, or at comfort inn suites. There were 4 of us, so we booked a room at the comfort inn suites for 200.00. We checked in and out at the same time and they gave us a pass to go to atlantis. Once there, we went to the pool tent (where the towels are given out) and they issued us all the wristbands. That gave us complete access to the hotel, pools, and slides. We were only in port from 8-2, but enjoyed atlantis for 4 hours before heading back to the ship. Very reasonable for us at 50pp. Have fun! Since you will have more than 4 ppl you will have to book more than 1 room just like we had to for the 6 of us going in August. This is the only way you will be able to get your wristbands for all of you. Dyanna

We have a group of 6 and I have 2 rooms reserved for Saturday 8/13. If you are there on the same day, perhaps we can split that additional room. PR1NCESSD1ANE Posted July 13, 2005 #7 Share Posted July 13, 2005 In case anyone else will be in Nassau on 8/13, we can get 2 additional wrist bands with our 2nd room. Let me know if you're interested and I'll let you know what the cost would be and where we can meet-up.
Kruzfamily Posted July 13, 2005 #8 Share Posted July 13, 2005 We just returned from EOS on Sunday and spent almost 36 hours in Nassau due to Dennis. We went over to Atlantis on Saturday. We only purchased wristbands (at the counter beyond the casino - top of the stairs before the "digs") for the digs. We paid $29 each. Once we finished the digs we were at the lagoon/pool and we kept going out to the beach. Once there, we asked the chair guy if he cared that we were "cheating" by not having the right wristbands. He said he couldn't care less and set us up with towels and chairs for a $10 tip. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the Atlantis beach. We didn't check but before we went over to the Atlantis, a woman on the ship told us you could get "dig" wristbands for $29 and pool/beach access for $57. Since she was right about the dig wristbands I assume she was right about the pool bands. Hope this helps.
JerseyGirl23 Posted July 14, 2005 #9 Share Posted July 14, 2005 But you just spent time at the beach and you didn't go on any of the slides or anywhere near the pools?? The main draw for the wristbands and getting a room at Comfort Suites is to have full access to the pools, lagoons, fish feedings, slides, The Dig, the beach, etc.
Kruzfamily Posted July 14, 2005 #10 Share Posted July 14, 2005 Jersey girl: The $29 wristband got us access to the digs. The beach was us "cheating". My guess is we could not have used the pools/slides. Again, what we heard was that this could be done for another $50 or $60 each. So, the plan you've laid out works out better and ends up being cheaper. However, I think there are ways of doing it without using Comfort Suites. Wanted to make sure that the OP knew all of their options. Mark
CookieBird Posted July 14, 2005 #11 Share Posted July 14, 2005 I don't get it. Seriously, what is so great about Atlantis that makes people have to go there? I have been to waterparks with slides, big hotels, etc. Maybe I am missing something good but I don't get why people would go on a cruise to an island and then hang out at a hotel pool all day. What am I not seeing?
Kruzfamily Posted July 15, 2005 #12 Share Posted July 15, 2005 From someone who used to stay there year after year (for a week at a time), I agree for the most part. The "digs" are definitely worth seeing once, so is the property itself. If you're there, the slides and shark tube are worth doing and a lot of fun for the kids. Aside from that, the place is a zoo, overpriced and probably not worth a return trip.
fodorspeter Posted July 16, 2005 #13 Share Posted July 16, 2005 For clarity's sake, all beaches in Nassau are public including the one in front of the Atlantis. Peter

Just as adults who golf wouldn't want to golf the same course every time, a different slide experience for kids is a great thing. Thats also probably why theme parks have multiple roller coaster rides. To me, if you've done one, you've done them all. That's one thing I really don't understand. But not so to a roller coaster enthusiast. I imagine all the different rides are each a new and fun experience in it's own...They must love to compare and rate them in their heads. To me, they are all stupid and I wouldn't go on one for free. To each their own. It's a good thing we all like to do different things. It keeps us all spread out in port. The difference is there is a 0-5 minute wait for the slides at atlantis...and 45min -2 hour wait at a waterpark. The place is beautiful and like nothing you have ever seen. I don't blame them for not allowing people to easily buy an afternoon at the pools. They do it periodically. When you are a guest there paying MUCHO MONEY for your vacation you don't want a huge crowd coming in for 5 hours. I have been there and witnessed it. Not pretty and very annoying. It may not be for everyone....that's why they make vanilla and chocolate.
macbasset Posted July 16, 2005 #16 Share Posted July 16, 2005 Atlantis has a fabulous grotto and aquarium where you walk through and the fish swim all around you, over your head, etc. They have shark feedings, above in one of their many areas. They have clear, huge waterslides that take you through an aquarium with sharks, etc. and that looks really neat. They have a lazy river. When we were on disney cruise, you could pay for aquarium and beach (which we did) but it did not include the waterslides and lazy river which are highlights. You could only get that by booking a room at atlantis or comfort inn. If we ever go back, we will do a room at comfort inn. Atlantis is the best thing in nassau.
