Choosing table size in MDR?

DH and I will be sailing on the Miracle in February. We've been confirmed for late dining, but I'm not seeing a spot where I ask for table size. Am I missing something, or does Carnival seat you "at random"? I'm hoping for a big table, I think that's the most fun.

Thanks!

Myself and 3 others sailed on the Magic in May, and we didn't have the option to select a table... I was expecting to have to sit with a bunch of strangers, but we had a table for just the 4 of us.

The tables are all to close together, a two top may as well be a four top.

If you feel the need to stretch you may poke the poor fellows eye out in the next table over . If you see someone backing into the seat next to yours be sure you lean in the opposite direction :D

Just got off the Conquest a couple of weeks ago. Wife and I were seated at a table of 8. Only 2 other couples showed up. By the 3rd night, we invited another couple to eat with us and there was no problem. All were strangers coming on the ship, but friends going off.

Was also so surprised to see so many empty tables . I am sure that if you requested a move a day or so in, it would not be a problem.

The table size is random, but your tablemates are not. Carnival matches you by age, marital status, and kids (or lack thereof). You'll probably be seated with other couples close to you in age. My suggestion would be to do this: before the first dinner seating, go to the MDR and ask to see your table. If you don't like it, speak to the maitre d' and ask him to reseat you.

You can probably speak to them when you first board or your pvp now.

We've had tables for just our family, tables with just couples(when it was just the 2 of us) and a large table shared with another family.

We've been happy with every table assignment so far *knock on wood*

Several times we have been seated with a bunch of single guys so wonder if they do match by marital status.

I suggest as well, going to see the Maitre'D asap upon boarding. We only use the MDR 1-3 times per 7 day cruise, but refuse to sit with others. I visit the MDR right away and request a table for 3 (wife, daughter and I). This has not been a problem yet.
