Crystallized Sugar

Do you remember when you used to be able to go to the Java Cafe and they had the crystallized sugar (in various colors) on a stick that you could put in your coffee or tea?

Those are called swizzle sticks now and you can get them in most candy stores or stores like Cracker Barrel.

I remember those ! They were great! I think some places still serve them on request in resturants here is Ca.

Don't they also come in cane (brown) sugar?

I don't use sugar but, KK, I do remember seeing them. Now that you mention it, I don't think they had them at Java on Maasdam.

I've never seen the coloured crystalized sugar on a swizzle stick, but I have seen the brown crystalized sugar at the Java Cafe on the Volendam and some of the other ships I have been on.

DH would spend 5 minutes deciding what color he wanted - worse than a child. I have been to order some for a t home through a restaurant catalogue.

But I haven't seen them on the ships in a couple of years.

I did not see them on the ship, I own a candy store and I was just commenting on the subject..sorry...and yes they do make them some in brown sugar. The colored ones Do have flavors in them, cherry, lemon, blue raspberry, etc...sorry for the confusion my part...:rolleyes:

Never seen the colors separated!! We can buy colored, crystalized sugar, usually around the festive season, from specialty stores.
