Does anyone have any idea what this is in Labadee area?

Sorry, a bit off topic perhaps, but I was browsing the Google Satellite images of the Labadee area recently and came across this somewhat across from the RCI area.

If I didn't know better I'd say it looks abandoned. I'm curious if anyone knows what it might have been? A resort or something based on the pool and cabanas, etc?

If pull the satellite picture out away from the island, you will see the area that RCI uses around the island further. The shot you had is not near the closed off portion of Haiti that RCI operates from. RCI's portion is off to the right of that area two or three inlets and coves away. You can see the pier that the ships dock at and the beaches and cabanas. That shot is probably a resort on Haiti, active or abandoned.

Yes, I've been to Labadee twice and am familiar with the RCI area, I was just kind of curious about what that area in specific was, and if anyone had any insight. I know that there's a few Haiti specialists floating around, or who knows, if it is an abandoned resort, perhaps someone here could have been to it before in it's better years and could offer a name or something so I could dig up more info. ;)

You've got me stumped. I thought you might have been referring to Cormier Plage, but when I saw the pic, I knew that wasn't it. Cormier is a nice beach resort, but it's to the east of Labadee, and just west of Cap Haitien.

 

My only guess is that it's part of the original resort that a US developer was building in the late 1970's early 1980's. They were developing Cocoa Beach, which is what we know as Labadee.

 

I visited there in 1982-1983, and it looked like this (although the pic does not show the area you found). Here is the thread I made:
