Just off the Pride

I will be glad to answer any questions. Had a great 12/1 cruise which ended with the worse debarkation I've ever experienced. Ship docked at 9:30 and I wasn't off until noon, even with self-assist luggage.

Why do you say " worse debarkation" ? What happened or didn't happen? Glad to hear your cruise was great.

Just worse in the fact that it took so long and there seemed to be confusion by Carnival. We had to be out of the rooms by 8:30, the ship didn't arrive until 9:30 so we sat in the showroom for a while. Then they called decks 1 & 8 to leave, then all other self assist. So a huge line formed and we stood inside the ship for another hour or so, then they called more self assist by decks. Didn't make sense to have everyone standing in the ship for so long. So it was out of our cabin at 8:30 and not off the ship until noon. Yuck.

Why didn't you just go hang out on lido or something. I always try and relax and let the crowds die down before getting off, I see no point in standing in line when I can be sitting on lido or having breakfast. Then when the line is gone, I just walk off the ship.

We were on the same cruise and we got lucky hanging out on deck 2 and when they called we ran....lol...was home by 10:15...Now my Ravens are only winning 7-3 ...darn...BTW debarkation was delayed because of the snow we have here...We were extremely lucky.

I was on the Pride from last month. We had FTTF. We were supposed to get back at 9 and were about twenty minutes late. FTTF were told to wait in Beauties Lounge on Deck 2. We were the first to be called off after self debark was done. We didn't get off until 10:45! No snow that day and still not sure why it took so long to get off.

BTW- we did not board until amost 1 p.m. for our cruise because the cruise before us were late getting in. So the early boarding you get with FTTF was a waste of money. By the time we got on all rooms were ready!

I would not buy it again for the Pride since these cruises don't get in until 9 instead of 7 a.m. ( and it has been consistently late getting in recently.)

Just got off the Pride today. We were Platinum Self Depart and was off the ship and in the car by 950. Home in So Md by 1115 before the weather got bad.

Waited 4 Hours last Sunday to get on due to the ship getting in really late. Didn't board until 2 and was the 5th passenger on the Ship.

Had a great cruise and fabulous M & G hosted by Donna. Met a awful lot of nice people and saw them all week.

I bought FTTF for the Pride for next Sunday for my family's 4 CABINS...

We don't have flights to catch so there's no major debarkation hurry, and my cabin is actually a suite, which will give us priority boarding, and it seems I can also have my kids' cabin board with us. I'm wondering if I should CANCEL FTTF AND SAVE THE $200!!

I kind of wanted to surprise my family by zipping by the embarkation lines, but it doesn't seem worth it!!

ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANKS!

$200? You only need to purchase ONE per CABIN, so with two cabins, should only be $100.

But with a suite you already get priority embark, and yes, your kids most likely can board with you as an accomodation.

Not sure if suites get the other FTTF perks, others will have to chime in.

Not sure what to tell you.

The ship has been late coming in recently but in most of the cases it was there by 9:30. Still it took forever to get everyone off. So as I said, I would not buy it unless the ship comes in a 7 a.m.

There are the other FTTF perks but the one that I wanted most was getting on early and getting to my cabin. The priority line at Guest Services was nice, we didn't have any tender ports so didn't need that. Just not worth it for the Pride imho.

Good luck with making your decision.

Have a wonderful time on your cruise. We had a blast on ours!

We also just got off the Pride and had FTTF. I have to disagree about the value of FTTF when the ship is late for either embark or debark. For the late embark, we were still among the first on the ship and were able to have lunch on the lido before the rest of the crowd poured in. For debark, it still was worth it considering the people who didn't have it are complaining they were standing around for hours. We were promptly escorted to a private debark line as soon as the zone 1 luggage was ready and walked right off the ship. The customs line took a while, but that's not Carnival's fault.

We would get FTTF again without question. Well worth it.

Our experience was totally different on our Pride cruise. Once embarkation started everyone was on very quickly and the buffet was crowded in no time.

And no one escorted us off the ship. A staff member came into the lounge where we waited and told us we could get off. No private line for us and no escort.

I'm glad it worked better for you.

John Heald posted a picture of the Pride docked in Baltimore this morning. It has snow on it. Don't think the Lido was a viable option.

I presume the $200 spent on FTTF is for the 4 cabins, not 2. I don't think the cabins without your kids will be allowed priority embarkation with your suite. You may want to cancel it for your and your childrens cabins, but not the others, unless they are suites too.

4-5 inches of snow  on the Lido Deck does not make for a comfortable experience.....:D
