meinnj4 Posted December 12, 2013 #26 Share Posted December 12, 2013 We just booked 2 connecting balcony cabins on the Dream for $120pp plus $100 OBC for each cabin. My husband and I both got the offer and it was cheaper to book 2 cabins with 2 in each instead of a quad cabin.:)
Sarahsmomi Posted December 12, 2013 #27 Share Posted December 12, 2013 Wow! All these people with amazing rates! Questuon: Is the casino rate something you were sent as an offer or can anyone find these rates? Not sure I "get it" lol
MicksMom Posted December 13, 2013 #28 Share Posted December 13, 2013 Awesome for you all!! Yes, how do you get offered these casino rates? We overheard people talking on The Triumph in Oct, they only had to pay taxes & port fees.
Zarabear Posted December 13, 2013 Author #29 Share Posted December 13, 2013 I don't even know if they are casino rates? It's all VERY strange. My mom and I have both been on ONE carnival cruise, almost 4 years ago. (July 2010) We didn't gamble that much, had fun visiting Mexico and while we wanted to cruise again, life kind of got in the way! She was signed in, and had her VPIF number put in (This cruise puts us at a red star, 2nd cruise) and the rates were showing up at $0 for some of the sailing dates. No one on Carnival has been able to tell me more than congrats, that's an incredible rate! LoL
tkportersat Posted December 13, 2013 #30 Share Posted December 13, 2013 Yeah, a little frustrating for me as well. Just had my tenth Carnival cruise and while I am no means a "big" gambler, they get anywhere from $500-$1000 from me and I have never gotten a casino offer of any kind. On the other hand, went on one NCL cruise and got a free cruise offer a month or two after my trip. Couldn't take it during the time offered but at least they offered! lol. I'm jealous! 35 cruises on Carnival....and I'm in the casino day and night....I play tables and can lose $100 in no time at all!! And I've NEVER been offered even $100 off a cruise! Much less a free cruise. Good for her but kinda sux for someone like me who cruises a lot and gambles regularly....
CarnieAddict Posted December 13, 2013 #31 Share Posted December 13, 2013 Im still stuck on you thinking Northern California being cold. I will trade spots with you. It's-24 degrees Celsius with the wind chill factor. Im not sure what that is in ferenhiet. Lol
Zarabear Posted December 13, 2013 Author #32 Share Posted December 13, 2013 Where we live in California, it's really rare to get down below 20 degrees. (-6 celsius) but we've been hitting that at night. So it is an unusual cold snap for us. I'm pretty sure we all understand that there are colder places in the world, but we did not choose to live there. ;) And, as I said before, she has just flown back down to Northern California from Haines Alaska, where it does get much colder, which is why she was on the cruise site dreaming to begin with! Sorry you are 'stuck' on that one line, hopefully I shed some light. :p
tkportersat Posted December 13, 2013 #33 Share Posted December 13, 2013 I'll admit here in Texas we aren't accustomed to "cold" weather. In the Dallas area we have had snow, ice and temps as low as the teens this past week. We don't have the thick skin for this. :D I will say, I have been to California and it can get quite chilly at night. Either way I will take what we have over -24 degrees any day!! Im still stuck on you thinking Northern California being cold. I will trade spots with you. It's-24 degrees Celsius with the wind chill factor. Im not sure what that is in ferenhiet. CarnieAddict Posted December 14, 2013 #34 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Its unusually cold here too. We usually don't get it this cold till January and February.

billie5 Posted December 14, 2013 #36 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Hey, Zarabear. All it would take is a mistake by Carnival's computer in one digit of a VIFP number and the invitation for a free cruise goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Zarabear, rather than Dr. Kline, the inveterate gambler from New York City. Or perhaps check around Vacaville, CA, to see if there is a Mr. and Mrs. Yarabare, who just love to gamble. :) Most of all, enjoy every minute of your cruise. Zarabear Posted December 15, 2013 Author #37 Share Posted December 15, 2013 We will be on the Miracle, sailing out on Feb 22nd! :) That was my concern at first to the previous poster, but my mom had the $0 inside cabin, and mine came up at $50, and in talking with the reps everything checked out. (We didn't receive anything in the mail, it was just when we were logged in and noticed the crazy prices.) As much as I am dying to know why, all that matters is that we are going!!! We are going to enjoy our extended balconies on the Verandah deck and soak up every minute of fun we can! :D :D
Zarabear Posted December 30, 2013 Author #38 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Talked my husband into going on his first cruise, so added him for just taxes! Noticed a number, in the confirmation. It appears that the rate ($50 per person) was a Pack and Play Campaign rate. (Not casino) Regardless, I'm excited to be going on my second cruise. :) ~Zara
nytravellady Posted December 30, 2013 #39 Share Posted December 30, 2013 I received the same free cruise offer!! I have only been on 2 Carnival cruises and if possible could use some help deciding on a ship. I have narrowed it down to Breeze, Splendor, Conquest and Valor. So if you had your choice, which would you choose and why? Thanks for your help! BTW I will be traveling with a first time cruise.
Zarabear Posted December 30, 2013 Author #40 Share Posted December 30, 2013 I really adored the Splendor and that's the ONLY ship I've been on. LoL The decorations were pretty, the ship was spectacular and easy to navigate for a first time cruiser. This was 4 years ago though, it was a couple weeks before the fire onboard that stranded some cruisers. (We got lucky!) So happy for you! Friends were looking into booking on our sailing with us, but it would have been over $2k and out of their budget this close. (Darn!)

Maybe your friends can call them and mention the deal you received and hopefully get a little discount. Doesn't hurt to try! Thanks for your feedback! My brother, first timer, will need a ship that's very easy to navigate. The last thing i need is to have him "lost at sea!" LOL! :D Have a great time on your cruise! I think you are getting hooked! ;) You'll be on another before you know it!
Stateroom_Sailor Posted December 30, 2013 #42 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Did anyone get this offer that travels Carnival regularly? Maybe they are drumming up business from "those that got away". Also, what were the parameters time and sailing wise?
Javajoni Posted December 31, 2013 #43 Share Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) So my mom comes in this morning, worried about some cruises coming up at $0 as she was wishing and hoping to get away from this cold snap we've been enduring up in Northern California. What?? $0? I take a look at her screen, and yup. $0 for an inside, $600+ for a view, and $70 for a balcony? We start playing around, and can't believe our luck! I play around on my account, I have great rates, but not free. There's only one problem, we are a group of 3 when we travel because of my 11 year old son. Adding a third to the reservation makes the price skyrocket. Compromise! I book a room at $100 single booking premium (but receive it back in onboard credit) Mom books a room for her and my son at $0! Carnival helped link the reservations, we are right next door to each other, and we are on our way to Mexico on board the Miracle in February!! What an early Christmas surprise!:D Did you and your mom get the same offer? My hubby received the same offer and I booked a balcony on the Pride, but paid $383 (fees incl.) to have our adult daughter stay in our room. The price for her own room would have been way too much. I'm wondering now if we asked the right questions? Edited December 31, 2013 by Javajoni
