Ordering drinks $10+ with Cheers

I know Cheers only applies to drinks priced under $10, and I know you get a 25% discount when buying a drink over $10. My question is this, lets assume I am buying a $12 drink:

 

Does it count toward my 15 drink limit and Cheers covers the first $10 of the drink and I only pay the difference minus the 25% discount? Or does Cheers not cover it all and I pay full price (minus discount) and it does not count toward my 15 drink limit?

You would pay 75% of the full price of the drink. So you would pay $9 for your $12 drink.

It is a bit cheeky how they do the drinks over $10. A $10.25 glass of wine? You get a 25% discount instead of paying on the portion that is over the included $10.

Actually a fair question. I would guess it does not because you can buy bottles of wine for 25% off, right? How would the calculate that against the per diem drink max.

 

We're considering the Cheers program. don't think we'd use it well some days but sea days and embarkation - might pay for it overall?

On Carnival, you drink will be $9.00. On RCCL, you drink will be $2.00 extra. Plus they don't have a drink limit. Plus, no need to carry a case of water on board, it's included also in the price!

.....which is why my next cruise will most likely be on RCCL.
