jfbbarry Posted December 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Where does the Carnival Liberty dock in San Juan. Can you get off the ship and walk directly into Old San Juan or do you have to take a taxi from the opposite side of the bay?

oncruisecontrol Posted December 14, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 14, 2013 The pier is in Old San Juan. You can walk to the forts and other points of interest right from where the ship docks. Though, for persons who have mobility issues, walking may be difficult because it is very hilly and many of the streets are cobblestone.

oncruisecontrol Posted December 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 14, 2013 And the sidewalks are about 24 inches wide, no curb cuts. Very true. Though, I think that I may have seen one or two curb cuts, but they were very steep.
marym933 Posted December 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 14, 2013 There is a free National Park shuttle trolley that picks up very near the pier. It is the white shuttle. It will take you to both forts. There is no reason to walk up the hill.
cruisingknut Posted December 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) All three times I have been to Old San Juan the free trolleys were packed with people and hard to get on at times. It was faster sometimes to walk due to the traffic in Old San Juan. Edited December 14, 2013 by cruisingknut
seannyice81 Posted December 14, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 14, 2013 All three times I have been to Old San Juan the free trolleys were packed with people and hard to get on at times. It was faster sometimes to walk due to the traffic in Old San Juan. The key to good trolley use I found was to get on them early. Waiting until later in the day, they're jam packed. I also found 2 weeks ago, that they don't seem to be running them as often compared to last year, making crowding worse.
