We're going on a transpacific from Tokyo to Vancouver this May. Wanting to make the most of being in Japan, we are planning to take up to a week before the cruise to explore Tokyo, Kyoto, perhaps Mt. Fuji, and/or anything else. What does everyone recommend?

We're going on a transpacific from Tokyo to Vancouver this May. Wanting to make the most of being in Japan, we are planning to take up to a week before the cruise to explore Tokyo, Kyoto, perhaps Mt. Fuji, and/or anything else. What does everyone recommend?

 

I am considering the same cruise in 2015. Thinking of doing the same thing, going to Japan first. Should the airfare be that much higher with the stop in Tokyo?

It's clearly dominated by visits to gardens and temples but there are other places and sights in there, including Hiroshima, Miyajima, the seaside resort of Kamakura and my day at the Mount Fuji area. All the best, Tony

We are leaving from Kobe/Osaka for repositioning to Vancouver in April 2015 (on HAL Volendam April 27, 2015). We arrive in Tokyo Haneda Airport. Looking for any information about a short stay in Tokyo or Kobe before sailing. Hotel recommendations in Kobe or Tokyo needed. Tips on transportation between Tokyo and Kobe also welcome. Also, what's best to see while in the area?
