s1kmad3 Posted December 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Hi all, Does anybody know what bay/pier the Ocean Princess tenders to? Trying to set up a pick up but don't know where to tell them to go :( Thanks for the help everyone!
Tikiintahiti Posted December 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) Princess prefers Opunohu Bay. They will tender to the little marina at Papeto'ai Edited December 24, 2013 by Tikiintahiti
thyme2go Posted December 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 24, 2013 We were just on the OP Dec. 9-19 and she anchored in Cook's Bay on that voyage. Just checked the captain's log to be sure.
Tikiintahiti Posted December 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) Giving it to you straight, Princess prefers Opunohu Bay as the entry is deeper. That is not to say they won't go to Cooks Bay if another ship is already in Opunohu Bay or will soon be there and might have a deeper draft. If they do moor in Cooks Bay the tender drop off location in at the small marina next to the Hotel Kaveka. thyme2go Posted December 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 24, 2013 I have no idea why they used Cook Bay, but they did and we were the only ship in port. Whomever is going to pick OP up on the island will be able to see the boat in the bay it's anchored in. The bays are not that far apart so it may be best to just check on arrival day and meet you where the boat is.
Tikiintahiti Posted December 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 24, 2013 The vendors are very on top of things and the local tourist board emails all vendors as to which bay a ship will be using .............. so they just go to where the ship is, no need to worry, they will be at the right place, just make sure you tell them which ship your on. loungelizard61 Posted December 24, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Agreed about the vendors knowing where you are. I think we moved overnight on Moorea due to weather and moored in the other bay in the morning. Our car rental was there and ready. They know so no need to worry about that. Widebay Posted December 26, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 26, 2013 Hey Tikiintahiti - great photos, especially the one looking down on the cruise, I would swear its identical to the photo I took from Belevedere Lookout? We did AITO shore excursion in yellow coloured 4WD vehicle, lot of fun. We stopped at the lookout & got the same photo.

shipcat Posted December 28, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 28, 2013 Hi all, Does anybody know what bay/pier the Oceania (Marina) tenders to? Cooks Bay or Opunohu Bay? Thanks for the help everyone!
Tikiintahiti Posted December 28, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 28, 2013 As mentioned the opening into Opunohu is deep thus the larger ships prefer. However, there isn't an exact protocol and I've seen captains change between to 2 bays depending on weather and other ships coming to Moorea. Would like to get an Avis Car Hire. Is there pickup point near where the tender might come in? What location should I request from Avis? Many thanks Dianne
Tikiintahiti Posted February 12, 2014 #16 Share Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) All you need to do is make the reservation and let them know which ship your on, they will make sure the car is waiting for you at the tender drop off location.
