So excited, we just booked our pre cruise night in the Caribe Hilton. The hotel looks gorgeous and its going to be an incredible way to start or romantic B2B Southern Caribbean Cruise.

Pay It Forward. Be kind.

You will not be unhappy with this hotel! We love it!

Well, I'd love to stay at El Convento or the Carib Hilton, but two nights at either would cost me about the same as my cruise.

I don't need luxury (would be nice, but not a necessity).

I've stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan, the Marriott Stellaris and Courtyard Miramar. I'd stay at any of them again, for the right price.

I may go for the Embassy Suites this time. While a hotel on the beach would be nice, I'm not really a beach person. I'd rather spend my time at the pool. At least I could walk to the beach if I want. Hmmm. Just checked at the Condado Plaza is even less and IS on the beach. AAA rate "only" $132/night.

Are there restaurants within close walking distance of the Condado Plaza? I'm a solo female and have no issues with being out and about by myself as long as the general consensus is that it's a safe area.

We stayed at the Sheraton OSJ on a Sunday evening post-cruise a few years back (coming off the Serenade). We were originally booked to stay elsewhere but on the Saturday previous to our cruise, on a whim, we asked at the reservations desk what their rate would be for the one night post-cruise. We were surprised when they quoted us a rate of $99 per room! We were going to stay at Hotel Casablanca, which we really liked, but was about $30 more and we had always heard great things about being at the Sheraton OSJ.

The rooms we had were what I would call average. The rooms didn't wow us but we didn't dislike them either. They lacked character and were more of a standard hotel room that you'd find here in the States. The biggest positive though is the location! Restaurants, CVS and street vendors!

With our upcoming trip (next week :D), I can not find such a deal for the Sheraton OSJ online. We have a Sunday night booked at another hotel but will once again check to see if can get the $99 special!

I was at the Sheraton in mid-November for 2 nights pre-cruise. I was solo and wanted something in town so I wouldn't have any transportation issues once I checked in (and could haul by bags down the street to the pier).

I figured the rooms would be small-ish. Any downtown hotel in an old city like that is probably going to have smaller rooms. Room size doesn't matter to me. All I want is a clean room with a comfortable bed.

I booked on Hotwire for about $114/night, which was a great rate. Of course, taxes and resort fees brought the total up. I did email them a few weeks before I arrived and asked for a room away from the street.

It was fine. Very convenient to go out sightseeing and be able to come back and cool off before heading out for lunch; repeat before dinner. Casino is off the lobby and they give you 5 match coupons for blackjack. I didn't eat in the hotel. Nice rooftop pool (small). Live band in the tiny bar at the front of the building.

My problem was the 2nd night (a Friday) when there were yelling teens in the hallway for what seemed like half the night. I finally called the front desk and things got a little better. I'd definitely stay there again if I wanted to explore Old San Juan (I absolutely love the old city).

We stayed at "Da House Hotel" because we wanted to stay in OSJ and get the flavour of Puerto Rico. Well...we got it and don't care to have it again. The hotel was centrally located and the staff were great. However...we knew there would be noise from the Salsa bar but wow was it loud 12 midnight to 4:00 a.m. and we had a balcony room on the front corner. There was no hair dryer or cups in the bathroom. Our sheets kept pulling off the bed and the floor was not the cleanest. Also, remember there is NO elevator.

That said - if you are young and don't care about those things - it is a great location and when we stayed there, only $100 a night in January 2014.

I'm from San Juan, I'd be happy to advise anyone about the city.

I really like Casablanca hotel, but it has no elevators (although it's not a tall building by any means), and it's not right smack next to the port.

What hotels are actually right in the Old San Juan area? I know the Sheraton Old San Juan is there but are there others that are equally right there in that area. Staying two nights before so we have a full day in the area and would be nice to easily walk around that area without taking a cab.
