srqrobin Posted December 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2013 My wife has been treated this past year for Dementia that is deemed "probable Early Onset Alzheimers". We purchased a cruise Jan 2013 for Feb 2014. During that time she's declined and has just this past week been asked to leave work and go on disability. Her dementia is such now that she is going to join a clinical trial in January. We have insurance thru Travel Insured that we purchased on the 30th day following our deposit so believe we are covered by pre-exisiting even if that is an issue. Question is that while we know she is unable to safely be on the cruise at this point and as of this week has stopped working and applied for disability per her doctor, it's not like surgery, hear failure, etc. Has anyone had any experience cancelling a cruise under these circumstances. I worry we will cancel and it will be declined!! I've searched the boards and can't find anything. Thanks!!!
Happy2cruise Posted December 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2013 If the doctor states your wife is unable to travel for medical reasons, I'm would think your claim will not be denied....but not sure. You may want to call the insurance as they would know and would be better able to help you.....good luck.
