DIY snorkel excursion from Caye Caulker?

We will be in Belize on Feb. 4th and not really sure when we will make it on a tender. We're planning to take the water taxi over to Caye Caulker. I really don't want to book a tour in advance so I was wondering if anyone has ever just gone there and found a tour. I think going to the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve since it's only 3 minutes from the island would be our best bet and would probably just want to go out for an hour or hour and 1/2. Any suggestions??

Smart move to do the water taxi to Caulkner and do your own snorkel. There is no problem to get a tour from there. We did Coral Breeze, big mistake, but I noticed all the independents like the boat in the photo,and it is only like 3 minutes out to the reef.
