French Key Private Island & Maya Key

Just noticed that French Key Private Island was added to our Excursion choices. I originally booked Maya Key. After reading and going on the websites I am confused. Are these islands next to each other and shared? Does anyone know if these are the same or different? Also, if they are different, which one is best for beach and snorkeling?

Thanks so much picomullet. Just read the thread. Think we will stick with our plans to Maya Key. We want to enjoy the snorkeling and sounds like it is not readily available at Little French Key, unless we pay someone to take us out or canoe out. Looking forward to seeing Maya Key. This will be our 2nd time at Isla Roatan. Can't wait!:)

If you love snorkeling - then Maya Key is a for sure GREAT snorkeling experience. We just came back from there, and the snorkeling we did at Maya Key was probably some of the best we've ever seen - and we've snorkeled quite a few places. Grand Cayman would probably be 2nd. But, the reef at Maya Key was just gorgeous! You get in the water at the end of the pier they have built, and its about 5' of water when you enter. They have red buoys in the water to show you which way to go to start, and then bottles tied to anchors under the water to show you the path through the reef. It's a 100% reef when you get out to that point, and 1000's of beautiful, colorful fish! I could have just floated over that underground garden for hours! It was awesome! You won't be disappointed.
