baronessk Posted January 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Sailed the Crown a few years ago with Commodore Romano. Sailed on Ruby over Christmas and Commodore Romano was again at the helm. Booked Ruby for Feb. 20th and was expecting him to still be aboard. Received e-mail today that Captain Fabrizio Maresca will be at the helm. Wondering where the Commodore is off to??? Anybody know? Ethel5 Posted January 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2014 I read somewhere on theses boards that the Commodore is retiring and moving to the Ft/ Lauderdale area. Commodore Romano lives in FLL with his wife and family. As Commodore he takes it as his responsibility to visit every ship in the fleet. I'm always very happy to sail with him. Madio Posted October 20, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2019 Just came across these posts from 2014. We were on a TA with the Commodore at the helm in 2013. Took the “Ultimate Ship’s Tour”, which was wonderful. Fabrizio Maresca was Staff Captain at the time, and slated to get his own command a few months later. They come from the same town in Italy (Sorrento), and they were both so informative, friendly, and entertaining. It was one of the great highlights of our trip. Fabrizio took us all the way up to the funnel, and explained how everything up there worked and was cleaned. He was so knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor. We’ve sailed Princess a couple of times since then, and keep hoping we’ll meet up with him again. Maybe this December on our Christmas cruise on the Crown? P&R cruising Posted October 20, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2019 Here is a series of posts from a couple of years ago. Commodore Romano did retire. We met with him on one of his last cruises and mentioned he was looking forward to retirement and being with his family in Florida. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2612936-commodore-romano/?tab=comments#comment-56318694
