caribbeanroof Posted January 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Mary, my wife and did this Jan 2013. First, find your way out to John Compton Hwy (your path will depend on which side of the bay your ship docks). It helps if you use google to follow these instructions. There are bus stops along the highway, just pick one going north. (Remember, they drive on the left side of the road). If your dock is "Seraphine Point", exit the port on your right, follow the road (water will be on your right) past the market area until the road comes to a "T". That is John Compton Hwy. If my memory serves me right, there is a stop within a short distance down the road to your right (South). You will aready be on the correct side of the road to go north. Simply ask the driver to stop near Bay Walk Shopping Center/Reduit Beach. You will have to walk a little ways to the beach. Again, if you google "Reduit Beach, St Lucia", you can trace the steps needed to get to the beach.
caribbeanroof Posted January 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Also, forgot to mention the buses are actually minivans or regular vans. If unsure, simply ask the driver before boarding.
reedprincess Posted January 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2014 On your other post: Yes, easy enough - bus transport in the north of the island, especially between Castries/Rodney Bay - is pretty reliable and fairly frequent. You can head to the Market and explore, then go tot he bus stand for RB, which is behind the Market - ask any local to point you in the right direction. Buses leave when they are full, so you may have a few minutes wait. Tell the bus driver you are heading to Rodney Bay - he will tell you when to get off (your stop will be at the entrance to the Village, there are 2 malls in the area, lots of people off/on the bus at the stop - tough to miss). From the bus stop, it's about a 10-15 minute walk over to Reduit beach, just follow the main road through the Village past the restaurants and hotels down to the police sub-station and hang a left to the beach - there are chairs/umbrellas to rent, beach bar, watersports for hire, etc. Enjoy your visit.
