mousecrazy Posted July 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2005 Hi There. I'm traveling with my 83 yo dad on the Oosterdam in Sept. We'll be visiting Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan and want to do one aerial (helicopter or float plane) tour and I need help. I think I've narrowed it down to Juneau Mendenhall or ??? helicopter vs. Ketchican Misty Fjords Float plane...but I'm open to other options as well. I would love to hear your experience, opinions/advice and comparisons. Thanks.
fllady Posted July 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2005 We did the float plane and it was wonderful. Relaxing and informative and amazing views. They are expert pilots and can answer any quetion we asked. Haven't done helicoptor in Alaska, only Hawaii, but that was an awsome flight too. Tough choice but which ever one you choose you will love it.
CruiseIsGood Posted July 18, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2005 The glacier helicopter rides are really the best. And it doesn't matter where or which glacier. It's like being on a different world. Misty Fjords floatplane is a wonderful second.
Budget Queen Posted July 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2005 I have done a lot of Alaska flightseeing, probably 50??? And I agree my top recommendation is a glacier helicopter landing. :) But it doesn't have to be Mendenhall, all the glaciers of the Juneau ice field are unique and giver a great experience, Mendenhall is only more known. :) Look also at Coastal, the cheapest tour available. :)
