Half beach day, half day at Blue Hole

We will be on the Magic into Montego Bay. We want some beach time at Doctors Cave Beach and then get a taxi and visit Blue Hole for the rest of the day. Is this possible? Would we need to go back to the ship and find a guide?

Which Blue Hole were you thinking of? There is a Blue Hole Mineral Springs near Negril and also the Irie Blue Hole in Ocho Rios. It is a 90 minute drive from Montego Bay to Negril and the Blue Hole Mineral springs is roughly another 25 minutes from there. The Irie Blue Hole in Ocho Rios is a 90 minute trek going the other direction. So, in either case, after spending half a day at Doctors Cave Beach in Montego Bay and due to the driving distance, a visit afterwards to either one of these Blue Hole's would not be possible on a cruise ship schedule.

 

With that being said, if you plan on visiting the Irie Blue Hole in Ocho Rios, I would recommend you hire a reputable tour operator beforehand as not all operators or taxi drivers even know where it is located, that's why it is also referred to as the Secret Falls. We have been to the Irie Blue Hole in Ocho Rios with Peat Taylor Tours and absolutely loved it. Our visit there was the highlight of our vacation!
