When does a Cruise End for You?

In another thread, Terrific_Surprise asked the question "When does a Cruise really end?" He did that as part of a wonderful story he has shared about his cruise to Hawaii.

So, when does a cruise really end? What are your thoughts?

When the ship reaches the final harbor?

When the ship finishes docking on the final day?

When you leave your stateroom for the last time?

When you step off the ship?

When you catch your last glimpse of the ship?

When you reach home?

When you see your children's beautiful faces again?

When you get back to your job?

When you finish sorting through all of the photos and memorabilia from the cruise?

Or perhaps some time way beyond?

When I am in the disembarkation line.

There have been many great responses to when your cruise ends but the best was harry & Lucilles "For me it never ends!"

Get home. Fall into bed for a good nights sleep. Get up and take care of unpacking. Having paid for an advanced cruise and an idea of what it will be, I spend the day booking the next one, start a roll call, prepare to start a roll call list, set up a gift exchange and a slot pull, etc.,etc. That keeps me busy for the real deal until we go again. Hummmm. Feb. 17th., 2015 on the Royal Princess. Southern Carib. for 10 days. Can't wait, however, the time will pass quickly while my goofy mind spins ahead. Talk about racing thru life after retirement. Sllllloooowww down Harry.

I booked onboard on the Carnival Freedom 1/5 - 1/11 at the Future Cruise desk for the Carnival Splendor Repositioning cruise out of San Juan 7 ports in 8 days to Miami on November first 2014. Splendor is leaving NYNY Port So while it's a bittersweet moment walking down the gangplank that last day and going thru all the "stuff" others have said the best part that I'm already planning and am in a group of over 50 "Splendorifics" Check out our Cruise Critic thread so far! over 700 posts in less than 30 days!

nd?

Thank you so much for posting this link. I really enjoyed reading Tim and Terri's story. As to your question, I think it's a slow process of coming down over the few days of travelling home, unpacking, laundry and telling people about the cruise. Decompressing, I think I would call it.

Like others have said, it's over went you go to sleep on the last night because when you wake up you are most likely in port and they're kicking you off ASAP.

UNLESS........you get fogged out of port and they re-open the bar at 11am and the cruise continues!!!

It's sort of like the Governor blocking an execution at the last second. Of course the "stay" in only temporary and you get booted off sooner or later.
