Switching passengers in cabin question

Hello All - My wife and myself both have a casino offer , and we are planning on taking a cruise on the Valor again , We are going to go with very good friends of ours , they have never been on a cruise , my pvp told us we can book separate rooms - meaning my wife would book a room and I would book a room and put one of our friends in each room , so they get the casino discount , then we can change people around when we check in.

I just wanted to confirm that is the case and how exactly it works ?

Any help would be appreciated

your pvp is right.

i wouldn't even do it at 'check in' though. do it once you get on board.

go to guest services and ask to switch rooms there.

they do not care where you sleep once you are on the ship. however i have read of some complications in the past when you talk with with shore side check in people. on board, no problemo.

ok great thank you for the info , I was thinking onboard would be easier as well , just wasnt sure ... I wasnt sure how for check in you would handle the CC on file , but I guess once onboard you can just go and make sure the right CC is on the right room

Those switching need to go to guest services.

Either you can switch everything for those moved or simply get an extra room key for the cabin. The room key is the easiest, quickest option.

If the folios are not switched you will not be able to access your folio as it will be tied into the other cabin. A quick trip to the kiosk/GS will give you access to the statement.

We switch all the time. Never had a problem go to guest services.

When you do your on line check in, DH and I do our info with our credit card and other couple do on line with their cards. Folio's have always been linked to spouse.

Our on board credit has always followed us from cabin to cabin.

if you are in advance planning to make the switch, you can also set it up as a 'cash account'. then you don't even have the cc tied to it.

then you have the option of changing it at 'check in', or guest services. they'll let you on the ship with even a 0 balance, and you just fix it either way at guest services on board.

i wouldn't mess with the 'at check in' option. just get on the ship and 'fix' it there, however you wish :)

exactly.

and just to expound on the same point...

folios can change too... they just inactivate the previous one, and create a new one (for whatever reason) if that is problematic in any way.

entirely doable. book however is advantageous / as directed by your pvp, and then fix it ON THE SHIP, if you want to do something else. they will be more than happy to assist.

Be sure to consider the potential downsides before booking this way. What if something happens and one couple can't go due to an emergency or some other reason? Insurance would only help in some situations.

I personally would not do this except with my immediate family.

We did this with our DD and SIL. When I set up the SS accounts, I linked my husband's cc to me and put the DD & SIL on his cc. Once onboard, DH and SIL went to Guest Services and switched themselves to the correct cabins. Easy peasy.

Great Info thanks everyone , didnt think about if they had to cancel , but im %100 PERCENT they are going :)

It's not just if they have to cancel; either couple might have to cancel. I would explain this risk to them since they're new to cruising.

Most people are 100% sure nothing will make them miss their cruise. But take a few minutes and read some threads about people having to cancel. They didn't think it would happen to them.

Of course you can do what you want, but something like this could put a huge strain on the friendship.

DH and I both qualified, our PVP told us to do just exactly what you are asking about... book two cabins and add a guest to each one, then switch on board.

Be prepared for a LOOOOONNG line at customer service the first night of people doing exactly that. If you have adjoining cabins, you could wait until late at night or early in the morning to switch the keys around and avoid the lines. Only the switchers need to present their keys for switching.

Your security photo shows up on screen when purchases are made, so if you trade keys, remember that you can't charge on another person's card.
