lovestocruise19 Posted January 20, 2014 Author #28 Share Posted January 20, 2014 This cruise we were back to gold status again. Lol! We were gold on our second cruise before they implemented the VIFP program. So we were blue, gold, red, red and gold. ;) Freebies: Having two windows in the room was nice because I could still get some natural light without disturbing DH when he was sleeping/napping. The only thing about the windows is that they aren't as deep as the other OV room windows so you can't sit in them.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Gorgeous sunflower outside the Monet MDR. Although a few of the petals were "out."
lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #30 Share Posted January 21, 2014 We went to muster drill around 3:45 p.m. It was painless and the good news was that our side got released first.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #31 Share Posted January 21, 2014 We ended up on Deck 7's secret deck for sailaway. We had it mostly to ourselves save for a few people who popped by and then were gone. We watched the Norwegian Sun, Carnival Breeze and Carnival Glory all use the turning basin, which I commented to DH that that was probably cooler to see than your own ship turning since you can't see the entire scope of it when you're the one turning. lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #33 Share Posted January 21, 2014 We saw a water plane coming in for a landing. We actually just missed seeing it land as we were on the other side of the ship. I have a funny video of me running to try to see it land. Lol! Hello, again, Glory! Last time we saw you was in Boston/Canada!
lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #34 Share Posted January 21, 2014 We were scheduled to use the basin after the Glory, but since it was 5:45 p.m. we went back to the room to get ready for supper. Our luggage had arrived in our absence. Before muster, we had met our room steward, Marlon. He asked if either of us used needles. Never gotten that question before! He also confirmed our supper time.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #35 Share Posted January 21, 2014 We were in the Monet MDR in the aft of the ship, which was convenient since our room was in the aft, too. Our table was on the upper level and ended up being a table for two. We hadn't requested that, but it was fine by us. We had actually been put on the waiting list for early seating dinner (6 p.m.), but had gotten an email a few days before stating that we were confirmed for early seating. I'd have to say that the Monet MDR is probably the prettiest dining room on the Carnival ships I've been on so far.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #36 Share Posted January 21, 2014 We met our head waiter, Norman, and his assistant, Nestor. We also had a third waiter, Darta. The food was good and the service was pretty quick despite it being the first night. We were out of the MDR by 7:15 p.m. Here's what we ate! Heart of Iceberg Lettuce: Chicken Tenders: Braised beef brisket: Chicken a la grecque: Orange cake: WCMC:
funinthesun1964 Posted January 21, 2014 #37 Share Posted January 21, 2014 I can't believe that you went, and are back from your Conquest cruise already! Time flies! Will be reading your review and looking at all the great photos as we will be conquesting later in 2014. Thanks for your time! :)
lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #38 Share Posted January 21, 2014 We went back to the room for a bit and then at 8 p.m. headed to Promenade Deck 5 to listen to the band Government Shutdown play 90s to Now music, which I enjoyed since I grew up in the 90s. The band was good and the singers were alright. The most entertaining part was watching a little African American boy go up to an old man on an oxygen tank who was sitting at the edge of the casino and start playing with the tank. Oops! Lol! After that we went to the Fun Shops where I bought a magnet and a sparkly funnel t-shirt to match my sparkly funnel hat I got on a previous cruise. Drink DH got while we listened to the band. I made fun of him because it had a pink umbrella in it! Funship Freddy!

Will be reading your review and looking at all the great photos as we will be conquesting later in 2014. Thanks for your time! :) You're telling me! I can't believe it's over either! Back to the grind tomorrow. Although I guess I should be grateful as I was thinking I'd have to struggle through 2014 without going on a cruise at all. Thankfully my charm convinced DH to cruise this year! ;)

lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #42 Share Posted January 21, 2014 We then wandered up to the Lido deck where DH had pizza and I got my first mocha chocolate getaway of the cruise! Blue Iguana Cantina: This gorgeous artwork mosaic was near the entrance to the main pool. I loved it so much!
lovestocruise19 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #43 Share Posted January 21, 2014 We then went to the Welcome Aboard show where we met our cruise director, Gary, and he did that baby bear game with some passengers. Then the show morphed right into the Divas show, which was weird. We suffered through most of it (I almost died when a male singer totally butchered Christina Aguilera's "Fighter") and left a few minutes early to head to head to the Degas Lounge to snag a good spot for the comedy show. Needless to say, the comedy show was great. We hit the sack after that as it was after midnight and we were both exhausted. We both noticed that the aft room was nosier (rumbling of engines?) than a forward room. This was our first, and most likely last, time in the aft. Here's a pic of me in my new funnel shirt with matching funnel hat. I just had to try it on to see how it looked! :D Thus concludes Embarkation day. Whew. I will continue on with my review after work tomorrow.

agc291 Posted January 21, 2014 #45 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Today I did laundry, vacuumed and went grocery shopping. What happened to my room steward, Marlon? Where's my mocha chocolate getaway? Was it really just yesterday morning that I debarked the Carnival Conquest in Miami? Sadly, yes. DH and I had a great cruise (is there anything other than a great cruise?). This is my very lengthy, very picture heavy review. Questions are welcome! We flew from NH to Orlando and then rented a car and drove to Miami to save money. Well, I thought it would save money, but DH proved that it most likely didn't between the rental car price, SunPass tolls and gas. Oh, well, it was an adventure nonetheless. The day started off quite slippery as it was freezing rain in NH. Luckily, after de-icing the plane, we took off with no problems. The drive lasted about 4 hours since we stopped three times. We stopped at a Publix in Miami to get some frozen dinners and a 6-pack of water for the cruise. We then dropped the rental car off at the Miami Rental Car Center right next to the airport. We were going to take the People Mover into the airport and then take the free shuttle to our hotel, Element Hotel, but we spotted a cab outside and just wanted to get to the hotel after the long day of traveling. The hotel was super close and the taxi fare was only a little more than $6. Do you have any pictures of Marlon? I am wondering if he is our first room steward we LOVED. He said to remember his name to call him Marlon Brando
ATHENA3 Posted January 21, 2014 #46 Share Posted January 21, 2014 If you were on your cruise last week it was nice weather up here in the Northeast.
