lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #178 Share Posted January 24, 2014 I woke up to the alarm at 8 a.m. and took a shower. I went and got cinnamon buns for DH when he took his shower. We got off the ship and met at the end of the pier for our tour, Pirates, Birds and Monkeys.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #179 Share Posted January 24, 2014 We took an air conditioned van to Gumbalima Park. It was overcast and around 70 degrees, but humid. Our guide, Denise Mackenzie, said that that felt cold to her! She was an excellent guide. She told us a little about Roatan during the 35 minute drive to the park. She cracked jokes and even passed around some of her own money so we could see what it looked it. She was also our guide once we got to the park. lovestocruise19 Posted January 24, 2014 Author #181 Share Posted January 24, 2014 We had a 10 minute bathroom break where I also rented a locker for $3 to keep my bag in. You were only allowed to bring a small bag (such as a camera bag) into the park. Our guide next to the cannonball tree!
lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #182 Share Posted January 25, 2014 When we got to the swinging rope bridge, I didn't chicken out and take the "chicken walk." I told DH that the bridge wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but he told me that I was giggling and that I do that when I get nervous. Lol! I took a video while walking across the bridge, so you'll be able to hear me in all my giggling glory once I upload it. After the bridge was the bird sanctuary. DH posed with one of the birds, but I didn't because big birds kinda freak me out.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #183 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Next was the highly anticipated Monkey Town! DH and I each got to have a monkey on our shoulders and then one of the monkeys handlers was nice enough to take pictures of both DH and I with the monkey! I had to take my glasses off so the monkey wouldn't steal them so I think I look kinda weird in the photos. Lol! I actually caught this monkey catching the sunflower seed his handler threw him while perched on DH's shoulders!
lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #184 Share Posted January 25, 2014 DH told me that the monkey's hands were cool (as in temperature wise) on his bald head. Lol!

lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #186 Share Posted January 25, 2014 After the monkeys, we went to the pirate cave to look at artifacts and then to the insectarium. I really enjoyed this tour.

lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #189 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Roatan is so beautiful. I'd put Roatan in my top favorite ports next to Jamaica. We took a van back to the ship (about 45 minutes this time due to traffic). The driver was kind enough to pull over so we could see Conquest in the distance! "Magical chairs" to the beach: Just as we were reboarding, it started to sprinkle a little. We put our stuff in the room and then went to Lido for lunch. DH had a Guy's burger and I had chicken tacos. When we got to the Sweet Spot, all the chocolate chip cookies were gone! DH got some sugar cookies and went back to the room. I got citrus Neapolitan which ended up tasting good. I also got some ice cream.

lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #191 Share Posted January 25, 2014 After that, I went back to the room, watched TV with DH for about a half hour and then we took an hour and a half nap. I woke up and went to the past guest party (or VIFP as they call it now) at 4:45 p.m. I left DH still dozing, but apparently he joined the party soon after I left, but had trouble finding me in the show lounge. He found me halfway through. My favorite part was clapping for the ships you've been on. We had gotten Mardi Gras beads on the way in and they were also throwing them from the stage. As I was leaning over to eat an hordeouve, a green Mardi Gras bead necklace landed right around my neck! The captain and the senior officers:
seannyice81 Posted January 25, 2014 #192 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Great review! You have an excellent collection of photos that pretty much tell the story of your trip themselves. Thank you for sharing your experience.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #193 Share Posted January 25, 2014 After the party, we went to the upper decks to get some air and to wait for the Lido buffet to open since we were skipping the MDR that night.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #194 Share Posted January 25, 2014 We ate and then went back to the room, but saw that it hadn't been clean yet, so we went up to the EA Sports Bar where DH played NHL hockey on the XBox. I wandered the photo area and shops and then we made our way back to the room where we waited until the comedy shows. We watched both comics and then went to Lido to get some cookies and pizza for DH.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Thanks! I love doing reviews as I get to relive the cruise and maybe help others in the process. I also wrote an extensive journal this cruise, which helped me match my pictures to the details.

lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #198 Share Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) I started my last full day of the cruise (Sea Day 2) with, what else? Hot chocolate and cinnamon buns! I bought a photo of me and the lady who was posing next to the ship in Roatan. DH and I ate our usual lunch, Guy's burger for him and deli sandwich for me. This was also chocolate buffet day! Chocolatey goodness! DH and I watched the ice carver for a minute and then went to the shops and the EA Sports Bar. DH bought two T-shirts. I got a little bored in the sports bar with him, so I went back to the room and ordered room service hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies. Although it was sunny that day, it was also very windy and I got cold in the sports bar with the A/C on. Room service took about 20 minutes and in that time DH came back. I read for awhile and then we both took a nap. Ice carver: Edited January 25, 2014 by lovestocruise19
lovestocruise19 Posted January 25, 2014 Author #199 Share Posted January 25, 2014 After the nap, I bought a really pretty bracelet with a cupcake charm on it. We decided to eat supper on Lido that night because we needed to print our boarding passes for Southwest at 6:35 p.m. We brought the passes to our room and then went to the upper decks, but it was a little chilly with the wind, so we went to Promenade Deck 5 and I bought a bracelet for my sister's birthday. We listened to the duo play in the lobby from Promenade Deck 5 and then I got one last mocha chocolate getaway.
