im curious do u know what those big CAT boxes are on top by the whale tail? i never saw them before on previous ships...

That is the new back-up generator for the hotel-side so the Triumph doesn't happen again. The CD Garry was very candid about it at a Q&A session. They have learned, fixed it and moved on.

Oh - and it WILL be moved next time in dry-dock.

We were on the Conquest the week before! We thought the singers were awful... that one female I thought they should let her off in Cozumel with a plane ticket....

Yes, totally awful! I wish they never changed over to Playlist Productions. The "old style" shows were much better and featured better talent!

DH figured that is what those were. It is great that they have a backup, but it does look a bit tacky next to the iconic funnel.

I am sure that I overlooked it, as ypur review was phenominal, but I have two questions.

1. Did they still have a sushi bar?

2. Do you have any details about the spa/gym area? Other than the listed spa services does it have anything special like some of the bigger ships?

I probably sound like a complete idiot asking this, but Ive asked in other places without results.

The Taste Bar replaced the Sushi Bar BUT they do serve sushi in the Lido Buffet every night! :)

Hello there Lovetocruise! We will be on the Liberty in Aug in cabin 2462 which is identical to this cabin but on the port side. Lots of different opinions on these cabins. How was your experience with noise and location? Would you book this room again? Thanks in advance!

Although the room was cool because it felt larger and had two windows, DH and I have decided that we won't book an aft room again! There was a lot of vibration in that stateroom.

When we were docked at Cozumel and it was windy, we heard/felt another strange noise/sensation, sort of like BANG, bounce, bounce, bounce (if that makes any sense!). DH was napping, but I had to leave the room because the bouncing was driving me nuts and making me a little queasy.

Sometimes while trying to go to sleep, I could hear the vibration in my ear through the pillow, which was kinda annoying. Some days were better than others and I think that had to do with the speed/weather. Some people might like vibration, but we did not.

Thanks for the great review. We took this itinerary on the Liberty in January and will be doing eastern on the Conquest in April so this was like hitting a double. I hope things are finally warming up for you in NH we are originally from Haverhill, Ma and do not miss the cold. Thanks again

Thanks! Yes, I'm so ready for spring! This "spring" we've had so far sucks! Lol!

For supper, I had chicken tenders marinated in Thai spices, which ended up being very good and my favorite part of my meal, oven roasted turkey and WCMC. My WCMC was a little soupy again. DH had Cesar salad, filet mignon and apple pie.

After supper, we went back to the room and hung out until the first comedy show at 9:45 p.m. The ship had new comics that night. I noticed that there wasn't much vibration that night, just a gentle swaying. I checked and we were going about 13 knots, which may have been why it wasn't vibrating. We saw one show each of the two new comics. I got a mocha chocolate getaway at the casino bar since one time I got it in the Degas lounge it was way too strong and didn't even taste like a mocha chocolate getaway. After the comedy, we got some fresh air on the upper decks. We found some chocolate chip cookies a the late night snack area near the adults only pool in the aft, which was good because we had missed the cookies at lunch. We went to bed after that.

HI! I am loving your review. We go on Conquest in 41 days. I learned on my last cruise that you can order your WCMC "well done" or "medium" done and it won't be soupy. I never knew you could do that. I suppose only serious cruisers such as ourselves would even care. Thought I would share that cool fact!! LOL....

Yeah, I actually have heard of asking for WCMC in different ways, but I never asked. No biggie. I can never finish it anyway because it is so rich! :)

Have an awesome cruise!

Good review! How would you compare it to the liberty? I just got off the liberty Saturday?

DH and I both agree that the Liberty is our favorite. We both enjoyed her decor. The ports we visited while on the Liberty may have also put her in our favor. Also, we both love the Serenity area. Conquest sadly doesn't have a Serenity area (which I didn't realize before I booked. She is the only Conquest class ship without Serenity).

I will say, however, that I thought Conquest's Monet MDR was gorgeous. Guess I must be a fan of Monet! She also had an absolutely stunning mosaic tile artwork of a funnel near the entrance to Lido. If I could have snatched that off the wall and brought it home I would have! I also thought the sunflower was pretty, but I was disappointed that two of the "petals" were out.

I will be doing the same western Caribbean route on the conquest as I just did on the liberty. We've come to realize we cruise for the ports not the ship so much.

That has been a big debate in our household! Do we cruise for the ports or the ship? This Conquest cruise was for the ports since we had never been to the Western Caribbean route. Now that we have been to both the Eastern and Western, we really have some hard decisions to make because at this point, we will be repeating some ports. We have already repeated Grand Cayman (in which case we chose to stay on the ship because we had excursions booked for different ports instead).

We both really want to see some Southern Caribbean ports (St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten, Antigua), but our struggle is that we'd have to either book the Valor out of San Juan and pay an arm and a leg for flights or book an Aruba cruise and pay an arm and a leg for the cruise (OR book a cruise with just one or two of these ports). Still hashing it out on what our 2015 cruise will be.
