geospyder Posted January 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2014 If you are not taking an organized tour in Brisbane, does Celebrity offer shuttle service from the dock into downtown Brisbane? If so, where does it drop you off and how much does it cost?
The_Big_M Posted January 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Yes, it does offer one. This is necessary as the dock is a long distance away and remote. The cost is $24US return. Not sure of the exact location in the CBD but it is in the centre.
baldercash Posted January 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) I just finished the cruise in December on Millie. 4 of us took a taxi to the Kola sanctuary from the ship and it cost $90.00, it was $45.00 to the city centre by cab from the sanctuary when we finished our visit. X let us buy one way fare back to the ship for $10.00 after we walked the city. You sign a sheet as you board the bus and they bill your cabin. We tried to buy the Kola Sanctuary excursion on the ship as it was a good value but we waited too long and it was sold out. The the City shuttle tickets are sold on a time assigned basis we did not find this out until the evening before port. So we had no choice but hop a cab and dash for it, we beat the ship excursion by about 2 hours to the park as we got there when it opened. We spent 3 hours and saw all the shows and animals got the "hold a Kola " picture, fed the Kangaroo's in the petting zoo. The excursion arrival was delayed due to a traffic jam en route so we had the park to our selves . We were leaving when they arrived then a heavy down pour opened up just as we got in the cab to leave so we may not have planned it well but the day worked out well. It worked out $5.00 a head cheaper then the cruise excursion with 4 people and we got to see the city which is not part of the ship excursion but more important we beat the crowd. We had to do it on the fly so we rushed off the ship and caught the 1st cab out of the port. It was a great day, the city centre does not compare to Sydney for things to see as it has a small core area. We toured it in about 2.5 hours and had a bite to eat and drink there then headed back to the ship. Buy the 1st day Great Barrier reef excursion in Cairns as it sells out fast as well. A good value as well. Edited January 24, 2014 by baldercash
geospyder Posted January 24, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks for the info. We've been to Australia a couple times, although not this area, so we had no need/interest in the zoos. We are Geocachers and there are a number of caches hidden in the local parks. My notes for this port area: Brisbane, Australia 0800 - 1800 Docked Shuttle to town and then parks - Roma Parkland, Southbank Parklands and Botanical Gardens. Kurilpa Bridge and Goodwill Bridge. Thanks again for the info.
