RCI Nursery Hours ???

Does know how early the nursery opens on RCI ships (Radiance) if booking an excursion that limits children under a specific age from participating ?...(please no debate)...This would be on an Alaska cruise in May 2014 and the excursion is the Bering Sea Tour....The ship offers it but would like to book it on our own..as we have in the past..this time we're traveling with a 17 month old and the age limit is no one under 5 yrs old.

I've seen the hours match in port times with the kids area open earlier for "ship sponsored excursions". Not sure though if they check or not (meaning if they know that the families with kids in the age range don't have anything booked they don open)

It looks like 9 am-12 am for days 2 and on.

I'm sorry to learn the minimum age is 5; we did this excursion when I was pregnant and I thought it would be great for kids. I guess they don't want to take the risk of a kid having a meltdown and they can't get him off the boat or away from the other passengers.
