Tampa Port

Just got off the Carnival Legend this morning. DW & I are diamond so the CCL on board person escorted us to the gangway. Great, BUT, we do not do self assist so after we passed thru customs we had to wait for all the self assist to get off and clear thru customs, about an hour before we could retrieve our luggage. Then a CCL rep escorted me back into the luggage area to retrieve our bags. This is not a CCL issue since customs has control. This procedure needs to be fixed. I could see no reason why the CCL rep could not have escorted us back into the luggage area as soon as that area was cleared.

Similar issue with some folks we traveled with on Paradise out of Tampa a few weeks ago. My FIL is partially disabled, and a friend who was on the cruise with us is very pregnant (she's due any day now).

Staff brought them forward, they were probably among the first 25 people off the ship (including all of those who were doing self-debark & had all of their luggage with them). Neither of them had done so - they put their luggage out the previous night. So once they got off the ship, they went down the stairs to the customs area - and had to wait for 40 minutes or so, until the doors opened to the luggage area.

Fortunately, one of the customs staff offered up a couple of chairs for them.

I thought you couldn't cruise with Carnival past 6 months pregnant? My DIL was denied as she had to supply a letter from her OB/GYN stating her due date. She was 25 wks pregnant.

I was thinking the same thing about the pregnancy....Can you decline getting off the ship so early? We had FTTF on our last cruise, we were to disembark after the Platinum and Diamond, but instead of going to where we needed to be to get off, we were trying to locate a rental car company as our ride was cancelled due to weather. We were the last folk off, but we got done what we needed to do, and no one was trying to force us off.
