Yet another beverage package question... how do they know?

So is there a cutoff limit? Reading other cruise line packages for instance Carnival your only allowed 15 drinks in 24 hours. Celebrity does not have something like this?

Please don't take this the wrong way as I'm not talking about someone getting completely intoxicated.

What I mean is if someone only likes to drink Bud Light which is 4% alcohol.. They have maybe 10 by the pool during the day in a 5 hour period. That's only 2 beers an hour but with the combination of sun, sweating out some liquor, having some lunch/water they might have a little buzz.

By the time they shower/change, have dinner back to sober.

Now evening comes along and they have 6 more beer while watching shows, playing in the casino... Then the night gets later and they might have a few more drinks and the nightclub before going to bed.

So maybe 18/20 beers for the entire day.. Which sounds like a heck of a lot but really it's not when it's broken down by some in the day then some at night.

Would Celebrity cut a person off like Carnival just because of the "amount" ordered?

I presume some might say that Celeb might think your sharing the drinks... So what if you sat at the pool bar in front of them the entire time. They seen you drink all of them and also seen that you were no where near drunk. Same for the evening, sat at the bar and they seen you consume the drinks.

No we have never been cut off.... if you do something shady you risk being cut off...or if you are so intoxicated that you pose a danger to yourself or other, I would imagine you'd be cut off..... But otherwise you are fine, and no one is counting your drinks....

Thanks Cheryl,

I could understand what you say about posing a danger or something shady. Also could understand if someone is at the bar drinking hard liquor one after another.

Just wanted to confirm what happens if someone only drinks a light beer but alot of it :)

Didn't think about time between drinks... that's interesting. I wonder how often they enforce something like that? I would want a soda and a glass of wine, to take back to my room. I guess we'll see!

I have been able to get a cappucinno, bottle of water and mimosa at the same time sitting at a table during the brunch. I have gotten resistance to this once of twice, after having the premium package for at least 6 cruises.

If there is an issue ask to speak to a bar manager and show them that you are sitting at a table drinking all three at the same time, which is not an unusual thing to have a coffee, mimosa and a glass of water at a brunch..... I have gotten cappucinno and a bottle of water every morning at Café al Baccio...maybe once or twice I was told no and again asked to speak to someone and it was done. They are trained to not give two "drinks", and for the most part that refers to alcohol. Common sense dictates that one might drink water and cappachinno at the same time for breakfast, so that can be done. You can't have a mimosa and a bloody mary, but two drinks from different categories are allowed, it is just sometimes the newer staff does not understand the distinction.

Most of the time I am traveling solo, and certainly not giving away drinks....but I understand that the rules are set and when dealing with an international staff it is sometimes hard to teach them what to do in every possible scenario....so it is better that the interpret the rule more restrictively than risk getting fired for giving away drinks.....

Trust me...you are in good company. I have looked at my seapass account quite a few times and wondered how on earth I drank 20 drinks in a day.....it just happens sometimes. The wines glasses at dinner are not huge, and some of the drinks are sodas or waters, but many are champagne and a couple martinis.....it just happens:)

  • 3 weeks later...
Is there a limit of how many drinks or $'s worth one can have a day or per cruisel with the Classic Alcohol package. Question seems to simple to ask but...

From reading random other boards, no. There's only $ per drink limit, like beers that cost up to $5, wine up to $8 a glass, etc.

They may have you slow down if you're drinking too many alcohol drinks and obviously intoxicated, but they would do that regardless of how you're paying.
