what is a starboard cabin?

and starboard is odd letters (9). right is also odd letters. (5). starboard cabins are odd numbers.

 

port (4 letters) and left (4 letters). left / port cabins are even numbers.

 

right left refers to if you were looking toward the front of the ship.

You will also hear Aft, Mid-Ship and Forward. Aft is the back of the ship and forward is the front. When referring to cabins you can have an aft facing which is actually along the back side of the ship facing the wake. You could also have a portside aft which is along the left side of the ship but towards the back or sometimes they just refer to them as aft. It can be confusing until you learn all the terminology.
