mev Posted February 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2014 We have friends who have never traveled outside of the U.S. - No where. They took one cruise 12 years ago - not happy. But they really want to visit Italy and Greece. I have just helped them book a cruise on the NCL Jade in October, 2014. Need to make sure everything is set - transportation from airport to hotel (Hotel Papadopoli Venezia - MGallery Collection) this hotel is on the canal in Venice, transportation from hotel to ship; ship to hotel. Not saying money is no object - but need to be sure they can make these transfers without getting upset. They can't use NCL transfers because they purchased air direct through airline - I have been a cruise critic member for several years; add advice and tours whenever possible; have used hlitner's (Hank - you are getting us around Mexico next month) information for two year; so now we are relying on advice to help two people enjoy cruising as much as us. Help make this a great and enjoyable trip for two novices!! Thanks, Mary
mapleleaves Posted February 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2014 The hotel is a convenient location because it's so close to the Piazzale Roma which is where cars/buses drop off their passengers. but they will have to cross one bridge with their luggage. Will they be able to manage ? If not, you'll need to check with the hotel about assistance. I use the ATVO express bus for 6E pp each way;takes 20 minutes from the airport to Piazzale Roma. It's like a greyhound bus with a hold underneath for luggage. Leaves twice an hour from in front of the airport. When the bus drops them off they would walk about a block, cross a bridge over a small canal then walk a block to their hotel. Or they could take a cab. Maybe 40-45E for the 20 minute ride. The cab drops them off at P Roma also so the walk will be the same. To reach the pier they would walk back to P Roma then catch a cab to the pier which is only a mile or so away. Use the map in this link to see the hotel in relation to PRoma: http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/hotelmaps/marittima.htm
