Dress Code Questions

We are cruising on Independence of the Seas - 6 night Western Caribbean cruise. Are there any formal nights on the cruise? If so, how do the majority of the folks dress - men and women? Also, on non-formal nights, what is the dress code for the reservation restaurants? I've read the RCCL web site, but am wondering how people actually dress for meals. For instance, are dressy men's shorts allowed? How about my wife - capri's OK? How about footwear? Thanks for any help you can provide us.

dressy men's shorts????

Most have a suite on if they go into a restaurant on formal night, 2 of them on 6 night cruises

Most men wear decent pants other nights.

Capris are fine for ladies on non formal nights. Same codes in alternate venues

I've never seen shorts in the MDR on anyone older than about 6 years old, and he had a matching blazer. Long trousers, closed toe shoes are typical for men. You'll see a few t-shirts around, but mostly no more casual than polo shirts on non-formal nights. Formal nights, you'll see a mix of tuxes, suits, and some slacks and sweaters. Almost never see men in sandals of any sort and rarely athletic shoes. "Business casual", as it were.

Women get a little more leeway, but gowns and cocktail dresses rule the formal nights, with a scattering of pants suits or the "dark slacks and sequined top" that seems to be still around from when "The Golden Girls" was on the air. ;) Non-formal nights mix skirts and pants, nice tops. I don't recall seeing capris but wouldn't surprise me.

Night 2 and 5 are formal. Casual dress is fine.
