Aquarius50 Posted February 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2014 I have a few questions. We have been on many cruises (all 7 days or longer) but we have never taken a short "cruise to nowhere". Can anyone let us know what to expect--i.e. are there shows (a show)? Dress code for dinner? Are the shops open? Also, we have never left from Bayonne. Any information about the pier? Thanks for the advice!
gumdrop44 Posted February 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Port of Newark is an industrial port for the trip state area. There's nothing within walking distance. Next door is a golf course. You could take a cab to NYC in about 30-40 min if you wanted. Which one disbyou book I'm thinking about booking one.
Aquarius50 Posted February 23, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Thanks Gumdrop. We live in the NYC area, so we don't need to sightsee. I was really trying to find out about the pier/port itself. We are taking the Quantum on 11/21. It looks like it will be really fun.

Two different ports
Teacherloves2Cruise Posted February 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2014 3 day cruises typically have shows and dress codes for dinner. Maybe 1 formal night on a 3 day cruise. Bayonne is fine, we left from their on a X cruise.
key east Posted February 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2014 We booked the sampler to explore the ship after hearing so much about it. Two days seemed too short three seemed more relaxed. Everything on the ship should be open once the ship departs. Cape Liberty is a quick trip off of the NJ Turnpike. They are suppose to be building a new cruise terminal to accommodate the Quantum which should boarding a lot easier

Thanks for the advice! Assuming you are talking Quantum, which obviously I have no experience with. However, basis past experience on short Oasis and Allure, everything should be as a normal cruise except they will most likely cut a show or two. Both Allure and Oasis short cruises they cut on the main aerial show. which is unfortunately as they are my favorite. Blue Planet was cut from Allure and I just received word that Oasis two nighter in August will cut out Come Fly with Me. :( I also recall an ice show was cut, but I don't even know if Quantum has ice shows. If I lived close to Jersey, I'd be on that ship for sure for the short cruise.
