How do I get to Bangkok from the cruise terminal?

My mom and brother will be on an Asia cruise next month and I'm helping with their shorex. Unfortunately all the BKK tours from their RC appear to be full, any tips how to get from the cruise terminal of Laem Chabang to the city? Understand taxis are available but the ones in port are said to be highly overpriced, anyway one could book a taxi in advance? Look forward to you ideas and suggestions, thank in advance:)

I hope for your sake, the civil unrest & killing of citizens in Bangkok has finished when your cruise arrives.

 

I believe some cruises are just not going to Bangkok at the moment.
